I would be pro spaceport on this island but not in that proposed location which would be within ten miles radius of almost 90,000 people.

This is pretty much what everyone says about any development ever. Case in point: residents of the Panaewa Homesteads Last proposed development near their homes was a composting facility; it didn't get built, which will make it more difficult to comply with the styrofoam ban that takes effect July 1. We can't build a simple composting facility, there's no way we're putting up a spaceport. There is probably some grant funding available for studies, though, so we know all the places that it can't be built, with specific reasons for each place.

Its not going to happen. I can see the protesters down by 4 corners wearing bed sheets and waving signs. Nothing that grandiose can happen out here.

From a safety perspective, launching rockets in the middle of Hawaii’s second largest population doesn’t seem like the best idea when we have 4028 square miles and 266 miles of coastline to choose from.
Launching downwind of the tradewinds over the ocean makes the most sense so residents and agricultural crops don’t experience any possible pollution associated with rocket launches or accidents. Sh!t happens. Kau to South Point somewhere. I’d love to go watch a few rocket launches. Happy New Year!

"I would be pro xxxx on this island but not in that proposed location"
Put that on the gravestone of the Big Island economy.

Ahhhh. And then there is the new revised statutes. Hmmm . There is room in there for orderly possible science construction. If you read all the sf books about the future, you wil see they all have a space launch or space ladder rite in south point. They way that will be done is, bribe OHA. Make some real good money points to sell the idea, voila!
I dont like the idea of hydrazine being 8 miles away in the mac nut orchard. U talk about probs with pentane in pgv, just a few times more volatile in my opinion. Parker will sell them space in waimea anyway. Truck the units to maybe a verson of Pakalolo training center maybe. You know they made a 4 mi long runnway put there dont you? Hmm?For new age airplanes or ? All southpoint need is a super conductive 4 mi rail with tilted launch capability to send un powered loads into orbit. Mark my words. We can revisit them in 5-10 yrs and see what presents itself? Happy new yr HPP HPP

20 to 40 foot rockets are quite small. The area they are looking at is leased ag land. Shouldn't be anyone living there anyway.

20 to 40 foot rockets are quite small.
Over the last 3 or 4 nights, there were a few fireworks launches off Kaloli Point that sounded about that size.

I don’t see any mention of “20 to 40 foot rockets” in the article, only “A full discussion of the size” is promised by Kim. It would be good to know the scale here.

Rocket launching is likely considered, or will be considered, an agriculture use. Any bets on how long an SUP for Shipman Ltd. might take if they choose to apply for one?
Assume the best and ask questions.
