How could you not know that, if you say you prefer them and you live here? Or are you just another wannabe?

Never, ever claimed I currently lived there. Too much of a dead end for my tastes. I used to live on Oahu back in the late 70s and early 80s, though.

Then why are you bothering to post in a Puna forum? Just to troll?

I find it interesting. Other than that, I have no particular reason.

At one time I was considering moving to the Kona side and purchasing a sport fishing boat/corporation, but after discussing the idea with lots of skippers and brokers, I learned that there was very little money to be made that way. Turns out that Hawaii, a state made up entirely of islands, is boater-unfriendly. Imagine that, but, you know, backwards is as backwards does.

Great chatting with you, but I must go for now.

Yeah, well, turns out you have no idea, do not know the facts, so through your ignorance...

The Hawaiian Islands are made of lava flows that create edifice that are not as much prone to having inlets and protected bays as much as peninsulas. We certainly do not have the inland waterways of more boater-friendly coastlines like those you find in places on the mainland. As such it is the islands themselves, more than man who is only a recent arrival upon them, that is not boater-friendly. But hey.. ignorance is bliss.. so they say.

And when we do have an inland waterway, as at Pearl Harbor, we have boats, ships, carriers, subs...
Ever been to Ala Wai Harbor?

Several people, all who know more about this issue than you do, have told me this - captains, brokers and private boat owners who have to pretend they are a charter operation so they can have a berth since there are very few berths for private, recreational (non-charter) boats available. Waiting lists run for years.

I take their knowledge base without a grain of salt. I believe if you had any idea of what you speak of, you would already know what I am saying to be true. Everyone else does. It may be more difficult to create a harbor, but it can and has been done when the matter is not contrary to the political will of the "ruling class".

PS I also know this to be true from people who run tropical fish collections business who I dove with collecting Yellow and Naso Tangs, Longnose Butterfly, various wrasse, Flame Angel etc.

This is great! An omniscient mind reader on Punaweb. One who already knows what we know without waiting for a reply. A man who saves valuable time by asking a question then answering it, sometimes within a single sentence.

So, while you’re here, can you tell us something we’d all really like to know, what big events are in store for us in 2019?

I'll take Mr. Twain's advice and not argue with you, for the reasons stated in the quote you have kindly provided.

By the mark, twain, called the sailor as he plumbed the depths with his sounding line from the riverboat, indicating a water depth of 2 fathoms (12 feet).

Have a Happy New Year, and give my regards to M. Pele next you see her.
