Try calling the air freight companies.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Aloha Cargo and Hawaiian Air both ship cargo to the mainland, either directly or through interline agreements. They both have freight offices open all day. United, as far as I know, only has staff on duty around the time their flight arrives and leaves at night.

You can ship cargo on "Southwest" out of Hilo now.
http://www.swacargo.com/swacargo/documen...rgoMap.pdf Hawaiian Airlines will be interlining the shipment, but you'll be paying SW rates.

Looks like it's going to be more like the middle of 2019 before southwest enters the Hawaii market. Of course if the government shutdown is still going on in mid summer ...the start up date could be longer.

If you have faith the government shutdown will ever end, so Southwest can begin flights to Hawaii, here’s a Southwest/Chase credit card offer you might want to consider applying for:
* 30,000 points on approval, & $4000 total charges in first 3 months * 1 year companion pass free, companion pays taxes & fees Details at: https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/southwes...35310.html

As a consequence of the government shutdown Southwest Airline’s starting date in Hawaii will be delayed at least until March, maybe longer:
The airline’s executives said in a conference call Thursday that if the government reopens within a week, service to Hawaii could launch by March.#8233; But if it doesn’t, Hawaii service might not become a reality until the second quarter of 2019. http://www.hawaiinewsnow.com/2019/01/25/...aii-debut/ We're not considering anything, but all options are on the table. - President Donald J.
