Puna Pono gears up to stop PGV
#1
"We have three weeks to raise lawyer and court expenses to challenge PGV's ability to operate without a valid state air pollution permit."

It's kind of funny that a group of people who complain of years of releases from PGV just hunkered down with ineffective dust masks while the eruption spewed out hundreds of thousands of tons of toxic gasses.
All of the previous releases by PGV were the equivalent of a fart in comparison.

Thank ${DIETY} someone cares enough to keep those oil-fired generators going.

From Puna Pono’s fundraising letter:

The state constitution and laws intended to prevent unhealthy air pollution should be respected to preserve the right to a clean and healthful environment and the comfortable enjoyment of life and property.

How many remain in the immediate area of PGV to partake of comfortable enjoyment on their property? Makes me wonder if Puna Pono has been down there lately, or if they’re fundraising from a penthouse in Waikiki.

I guess the stuff about "unhealthy air pollution" doesn't apply to burning oil?

Right -- first we need a lawsuit to restore the "comfortable enjoyment", then Puna Pono can sue to protect it.

Again, PP is willfully misrepresenting the legal requirements that PGV needs to comply with for their air permit. They have a valid permit, but I guess they figure if they can con enough people - as they have in the past - they can extort more money from PGV...

I gotta agree here.

Also people would gather at the steam vents and take lengthy (and they claim healthful) steam baths and breathe in all that same stuff that we are now told to roll our windows up when we pass it on the highway.

They'll have to send over a pretty big labor pool.

I hope some of them know how to do tile.
