I'm shocked, I tell you, shocked! We must immediately commission a $10 million study by someone important's nephew to figure out how things got this way. We obviously don't have a clue . . . in more ways than one.

From kalakoa’s link:

Hawaii... was in the bottom five in average internet speed and eighth-grade math and science performance.

If only Hawaii had some kind of science based industry interested in our advantageous location for their research or work. Even better, what if a science based industry would offer money for local schools and student scholarships? Might that not help Hawaii dig out from the bottom of the rankings?

Oh well.

Since the telescopes have been here for decades, you have to admit they haven't had the effect you're shilling for. There are always openings for anyone half skilled, but under RCUH's 'management' salaries are half what they are for the same skill on the mainland. And with regressive GET tax increases, local gov't ensures hawaii will continue to never prosper. The transparent greenwashing you are pitching will never make it past corrupt school administration, same as all other monies thrown at them. My advice to our beleaguered students is to get out if you want real career opportunities.

I am genuinely sorry this is so, if that's any consolation.

If only Hawaii had any industry other than tourism.

If only Hawaii took its tourism industry seriously.

regressive GET tax increases

Mere pennies! Surely you can spare a few pennies for roads and education?!?!

Take woodshop. Learn a trade. Save your money and invest a little bit as early ss can. Got that in your pocket. Go from there.

eta, drive a generic car and be happy and start innovating

I’ve lived on Hawaii Island 20 years.
In Hawaii 32 years.
Apparently somewhat inconspicuously however.

Since the telescopes have been here for decades,

That’s why we’re #45 and not #51 on the list.
