Anyone using Shipt to deliver groceries?
#41
Kalakoa, did you get as far as putting in an order? How do you know? Thanks.

How do you know?

Enter zipcode into ShipT, get told "not available".

Now that I think about it ... Hawaiian Acres doesn't have its own zipcode.

I wonder if ShipT will deliver to "in front of the Kurtistown 7-11"...

FYI it accepts Kurtistown but not Mountain View. Could probably play games with the zip you use, but I'm not sure how many drivers would take those trips anyway...

Want to start a Hawaiian Acres / Fern Acres delivery service with me? We can set up different delivery circuits on different days, and add our own products and services into the mix...

All that matters is if you can game an address in a manner that is an acceptable zip code and shows up on the shopper's GPS.

And yes, I think you can have the stuff delivered to the 7/11. They text you when they leave target so you know when to meet them. When you place the order there is a place to enter specific delivery information like, "The blue truck at 7/11".

As far as I'm concerned it defeats the purpose of home delivery if you have to drive somewhere to pick up your groceries.

It's not home delivery, it's 7/11 delivery. Maybe combine it with a "beer run" and it shaves 2 hours and a bunch of gas consumption out of one's day. Maybe at the first trip one can ask the shopper if next time they can just come all the way to your house. The answer is always "no" until you ask.

means we have to at least drive to Pahoa for the alcohol and drugs.

That is where they all are, anyway...

Unexpected bonus: double Hawaiian Airline miles when you use their plastic.

And they added Petco to the stores that will allow Shipt to deliver their products starting April 18th.

Well we've used ShipT 3 times and have been extremely pleased every time. Coincidentally, we also know two people who work for them. Here is some advice on how to make the shopping experience the best for you and the shopper/driver:

If you select "text me if they are out of something", be available to receive the text and respond. Surprisingly, a lot of people are okay with letting the shopper waste their time waiting for replies that will never come because the person who made the order doesn't have their phone with them.

When you add an item to your cart, you can included specific instructions like "If they don't have the item, skip it." Save the back-and-forth of texting, or give specific instructions like "If they don't have fuji apples, get red delicious" or whatever. You can give instructions for every individual item you order if you want.

If they don't deliver to your area, and are meeting you somewhere in their delivery zone, be there when they show up. They aren't paid for time waiting for you. If you are late, tip them appropriately, and generously.

If you live at the bottom of HPP (or wherever) tip more than $2. Honestly in Puna I can't see why anybody would tip less than $10. It's a 30-mile round trip to get from Target to HPP/Orchidland etc and they do not get reimbursed for gas.

You can get free delivery for a $35 order, but their compensation is scaled such that larger orders are more lucrative. Instead of making three $35 orders per week/month (or whatever) consider making one larger order instead.
