Appliance retailers in Hilo?
#1
Now that Sears is about dead, is Home Depot all we have left?
Unless you drive to Kona and then you get Lowes. Looking for a washing machine that will last at least three years. I’ve already had to Samsungs and they were junk, neither lasting more than two years. Repairs were more than half the cost of a new machine!

Bought a recumbent bike from Sears. Took 2 years and 12 house calls for them to admit it was a lemon and give me my $ back.

Ordered a mattress from them, and after I paid they said it would be 6 weeks to delivery. After 6 weeks, got a text saying they didn’t know when it would arrive. Cancelled the order.

Bought a washer from Lowe’s. They delivered that week. No problems whatsoever . Still working fine.
Good luck!

"I’ve already had to Samsungs and they were junk"

Don't buy anything with moving parts from companies that primarily make mobile phones or televisions (Samsung, LG).

Best lucky we've had with modern appliances has been GE.

I’ve had good luck so far with my Samsung front load washer. 5 years I think.

It replaced my 27 year old GE ...

After multiple repairs (mostly circuit board failures) on high-tech appliances, our repair man told us to buy GE. We did and have been very happy. Like night and day.

I bought a new Whirlpool refrigerator from Home Depot and it has an issue that needs to be addressed under warranty. Nobody on this side of the island can do warr. repairs for Whirlpool and Sears won't because it wasn't bought from them. Whirlpool said they would give me $99 bucks to cover a service call and I laughed at them!! Nobody would come out for 99 bucks!

Sears trucks say they will work on any brand. That's weird.

But, not warranty for other sellers I guess. Just like going to a car dealership, if you didn't buy it from them, it will take forever to get an appointment for repairs. I know, I used to work at several dealerships, including one right here in Hilo.

I would recommend going to Smith Trading Co. in Hilo and getting a used (old reliable) washer, but the last one I got there was a dud and they still charged quite a bit for it. If you can find someone foolishly selling their old Kenmore, snatch it up and repair it. It'll last three years and then another twenty.

If you buy a washer with a computer and that sounds like a symphony when it starts up, it's going to die within a half year, guaranteed.
