TMT construction begins Monday 15 July
It's sensationalized journalism. It seems to be the norm these days.

and this is current info from U of H .............

The U of H Board of Regents agenda today: (heard it was approved)

------------------------------------------------------------
what the U. of H. President said a few days ago
https://www.hawaiipublicradio.org/post/c...mments-tmt
----------------------------------------------------------------
This from the Exec. Director of Mauna Kea Stewardship, U of H
The immediate moment isn’t really ripe for negotiations, believes Gregory Chun, executive director of Maunakea Stewardship at the University of Hawaii Hilo, who represents the university on external matters regarding the mountain.
“I think everybody would appreciate a pause at this moment,” said Chun,.
------------------------------------
meeting moved to Aug. 30 , Regents to hold meeting RE: Mauna Kea Admin rules.
-----------------------------------------------
combined, it pretty much gives us a clear picture of where the U of H stands right now.

Well, Chun might think that, but that's certainly not the sentiment of 500 Maunakea Observatories staff who can't do their jobs and thousands of people who rely on observatory contracts for work.

reni- what was the meeting for today then? Was it just public testimony?

Tom, I understand your position. I do not know you although I follow your posts and you are my neighbor. We have friends that work on Mauna Kea.
You guys are caught in the middle of a political mess.

Science Friday was disappointing, two guests but only one side of the TMT protest was presented...

reni - understood. However, the state is now complicit in not allowing people to go to work despite everything they've said. I expect much more pressure will be put on them next week and there is a way the state can make this happen that will keep both the current observatories and protesters happy, at least in the short-term, but if the state remains gutless then it won't happen. I can't say much more than that I'm afraid as it'll be up to the state.

dan_d,

"Sorry random. Most peps wont click to read."

I don't know what "peps" are but suspect you mean "people". And how do you know most people won't click on links? Is it because you won't?

Don't assume most people who post here won't click on links. If they won't click on a link they are hardly going to make the effort to read the whole thing posted here. In addition, most people understand that just copying and pasting a whole article is a breach of copyright. Posting that article puts both you and Punaweb at risk of a lawsuit. Maybe you don't care but I do and I'm sure Rob does as well.

Please think before you do it again.
