Who's responsible here?

What happens when another group uses the same tactics? They obviously work, and there are no repercussions, so why not?

"tactics" They do...just look at the National Democratic party .
Where's Mazie? On the border , as we speak touting the rights of non citizens .
Can we not as citizens sort out what may be pono for our own comes first? And NO I am not a Republican Shill nor did I vote for our current President..o.k.?
Kander is spot on
"Feet to the fire. Politicians and bureaucrats worse fear is loosing power." They do so by divide and conquer...claiming the narrative,
smoke screening the issue.
This situation has the potential of exposing many, unraveling the power of business as usual in this State. Could be a healthy outcome for us all.

Reni is correct they do. Its how democracy is supposed to work. Ideas should be placed forward and those that are bad should be tossed out and those good ideas rise to the top. Sometimes that happens. sometimes people are too distracted to see what the foxes are doing in the hen house.
And the American public has been far too distracted and outraged at each other over BS issues. Then on to the next outrage. So distracted that families wont talk to each other over politics.
There are only two things that can be done. Work within the system to change out those in office with someone else or cast off the system of governance with something else.

Maybe Hawaii Island could become the 51st state, Generally what Honolulu thinks is good for the state rarely includes what big island wants.

PSA: snorkel has never participated in a discussion here; he’s just a ‘hit and run’ poster that calls you racist and then gets out fast (kind of like bananahead with native plants); point being there is no constructive conversation to be had by responding to him - end PSA.

What other group are you thinking of?

How about the people who tried to squat in a hotel on north shore & Kauai?

How about the people squatting at the fishpond on Oahu?

How about the people at Uncle Roberts demanding parking fees for parking on the state road?

How about the people who beat up the security guard in Kona?

How about the guys who escape from prison weekly?

How about the people who don’t want any GMO crops?

How about the people who don’t want geothermal?

How about the people who don’t want sunscreen?

How about the people who don’t want pesticides?

How about the people who don’t want fishing?

It’s literally endless! I could go on and on...

This may be their day of reckoning(I hope). Seems the protesters are having lots of fun at the expense of not allowing personnel access to the other existing observatories. Projects and equipment ruined, huge loses yet our protestors are all about spreading aloha or so they say.

...and as we all know, Federal law pre-empts. So we should expect some enforcement Any Minute Now.

The harmonics would be messing with the telescopes, if they weren't all shut down...
