Costco has paper straws now

People who pass laws banning plastic straws didn't grow up in the 1950's or earlier.
Drinking a good milkshake is impossible with a paper straw !

You could use a stainless steel straw, but for the love of Pele don't go sipping it while you're in motion!

I just ate dinner with my two year old grand niece who was hysterical with frustration trying to drink thru a paper straw. And how many plastic straws would it take to make one disposable water bottle? Shouldn't we be focusing more on that?
Certainty will be the death of us.

About the collapsing straws, someone suggested getting extras when the first “wears out”.
When I was a kid I remember paper straws but they had a coating (wax I think). I don’t remember having a problem with those.

Now, how about those styrofoam food containers?

Same problem: it's not the styrofoam, it's the unfettered release into the environment. A deposit of $1/clamshell would have prevented this.

The new compostable paper containers tend to soak through, so at least one place is lining them with tinfoil. Not clear this is "better for the environment".

I would just bring my own reusable containers, but "health department regulations"...

Good for you. Both paper and plastic straws are bad news, especially plastic because they don't bio degrade.
