Why with this new alert system I’m I getting Alerts for the Transfer Station being closed and things like that

You can choose which alerts to receive by reviewing your profile with the Everbridge system that is now handling all these. I guess the default is to receive everything, but I had to cut some back and also take out my phone number to prevent numerous phone calls, along with the texts and emails.

does the new contractor allow you to opt out of NON-alerts? as in "...there was a M 1.2 earthquake on Kilauea's south flank. There was no tsunami generated by this event..." I got so sick of pulling up those non-alerts that I dropped the application completely.

I got an alert a while back that the green waste dump was closed at the Pahoa transfer station.
It said the green waste dump had closed at 1:15. I got the message at about 1:45 as I was entering the transfer station.

Thanks County !

Going through my emails and see this.

The PAHOA and KEA'AU Transfer Stations Greenwaste, Scrap Metal, and White Goods Services are closed as of 8:00 a.m. today.

The message was sent at 8:49.

Of course it doesn’t say when they’ll reopen. Guess that would actually be useful.....

Historically, CD here on B.I. has been has been useless except to provide income for cronies of the county's elite.
CD's uselessness was proven during the 2018 eruption.
Since the 2018 eruption, CD has taken it upon itself to make itself look like it's doing something, even if most of which its doing is of little use, or should be handled by other agencies.

An example is the road reports they give about road closures and such.
The police and/or DOT are the source of that information.
They could make it available with little extra cost.
But no, we need to provide jobs and an income for the friends and relatives of those that control our county.

This time, I can no longer participate in the primary.

I tried for a long time to opt-out of useless CD alerts without success. I'm so glad they changed provider and got opted-out without having to do anything.
