"Yes, but they were tested again and no trace of covid-19 was found. So it was most likely a false positive."
Why would it be "more likely a false positive"? Why not more likely a false negative? Or, perhaps a 50 - 50 shot either way?
To me, if we are getting false readings either way how much confidence can we have in any of these tests?

"The CDC says...
The Surgeon General says...
The WHO says..."
Yes, the needs of the many outweighs the needs of the few, or the one.
Unless you're the one.
That's why people are hoarding masks. And ammo. And a lot of other things. I'm not sure why people are debating this. People either prepare, or they expect that "the government" (or somebody else) will solve all their problems if TSHTF.
Personally, I don't have a lot of faith in our local government. But I'm not here to judge people who do.

As to the mask fiasco, I would be fine with sharing the box of masks I keep in my workshop. But I don't like being lied to. How can they expect us to have confidence in them, how can they expect the conspiracy theories not to thrive, when they continue to lie to us and hide information?
Also, when they tell us the masks won't work for us, or worse, they tell us that the masks can be MORE damaging than not wearing them, how are they going to undo that when more masks become available and it's time for everybody to wear them?

China, who has more experience than anyone with COVID-19, still requires masks while in public. 1.3 billion idiots? Don't they know masks don't work? Why don't they listen to the WHO?

"“Situations that require a mask are when you are in a crowd...or if you are caring for a sick person. If it makes you feel better, wear a surgical mask,” Angela Rasmussen, virologist at the Center for Infection & Immunity at Columbia University said on the Reuters Global Markets Forum."
[...]
"In China, where nearly 10,000 cases have been reported so far, Zunyou Wu, chief epidemiologist at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, told state broadcaster that people need to wear masks when taking public transport." (this is from a month ago - required everywhere in public these days)
Do you need to wear a mask right now? Maybe not. Will you want to have the choice very soon? Almost certainly - exponential growth is no joke. U.S. confirmed cases are doubling every few days and will continue to do so until actions (like social distancing & wearing a mask) are taken to slow the spread.

increased airport landing fees
Funny, isn't this coming from the same State that's so concerned about tourism revenue?
China ... still requires masks while in public.
Doesn't China have at least one mask factory?

Speaking of mask shortages....
As previously mentioned my daughter works at Queen's Medical Center and they had asked the employees not to wear masks unless it was medically necessary. She had been wearing one because she is pregnant. Today they told her she's not allowed to wear a mask.

@terracore - did they give her a reason why? (mask shortage, public perception, etc?) Given such stupidity it's not hard to understand why people can infer malicious intent.

Old people should stay home:
CDC says older adults should “stay at home as much as possible” due to coronavirus
US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention posted new guidance on its website, encouraging older people and people with severe chronic medical conditions to “stay at home as much as possible.”
This advice is on a CDC website that was posted Thursday.
No word on a safe distance permitted when kids (virus infected or not) get on your lawn. Probably not.

Mask shortage. She is a CNA. Maybe they want to preserve the masks for the "more important" doctors and nurses ?
