New land created by lava flows have been in contention in the past. The state supreme court declared the new land was for all the people but it does become state land. All state land is supposedly being taken care of in stewardship for the Kingdom of Hawaii, technically owned by the Kingdom of Hawaii. The Kingdom of Hawaii doesn't recognize state regulations.

Is it just coincidence that the new landing pad is being constructed at the same time S.P.A.C.E. Market is moving to Uncle Roberts. Maybe Graham Ellis is planning his escape route - on Kingdom of Hawaii assumed land so that he can have an uninterrupted departure from the governmental authorities.

Really old thread, I know, but what restrictions are being put in place at the alien landing site to stop the spread of COVID-19? I imagine temperature checks might not work since we don't know the normal temperature of aliens. Asking for travel history might be an interesting exercise and where would they go to self-quarantine?

PS. in the meantime, we have come up with an answer to the obvious request the aliens will give, "Take us to your leader".
The answer is "Are you joking, and have you really thought this through?" We're currently working on a mathematical way to say this that will be understood by any intelligent alien species plus doing a light and music show as well, but movies suggest that although this strategy will work on some occasions, they are not always successful.

I believe the military’s new Space Force has taken over the Hawaii Star Visitor Sanctuary in Kalapana since those aliens caused the eruption of 2018.

We've moved onto phased array emitters (phasers). Laser canonons are so late sixties technology. I believe quantum torpedoes are the ultimate goal but I forget the stardate they are supposed to come into service. Of course, I never told you this because it's classified.

I hope that new Hawaii County Recovery & Resilience Plan set aside funds for expansion of the Kalapana Star Sanctuary. It looks like the Galactic Federation have made contact, but won’t land saucers until we earthlings chill out:
This "Galactic Federation" has supposedly been in contact with Israel and the US for years, but are keeping themselves a secret to prevent hysteria until humanity is ready.
The former space security chief gave further descriptions about exactly what sort of agreements have been made between the aliens and the US, which ostensibly have been made because they wish to research and understand "the fabric of the universe."

Think about it, with an expanded Kalapana Spaceport in Puna we could get the jump on interstellar space tourism, and develop their advanced technology here first. We’d become the new Silicon Valley, let’s call it Basaltic Valley or Pahoehoe Valley. C’mon Mayor Mitch Roth, legalize the weed and there’d be no panic if The Galactic Federation start hovering overhead.
