Starting in January including teachers. For up to 4 years.
Instead of having some kind of balanced budget and putting some money away, they pour it in the ground and then act surprised when there is Another economic dip. Then hope people forget about it before next election

This should have been started April 1 so they could have suffered along with the folks they harmed with the ridiculous bans and restrictions.

Haven't you heard? Everything will be back to normal as soon as the vaccine is approved, then tourism can return and we can all forget this crazy talk about "diversified economy" and "managed government spending".

I would hardly characterize two long weekends every month and a 9% temporary pay cut as "suffering". Suffering is what families on the mainland without restrictions are going through. I know because I have family and friends suffering there.
As bungled as our response has been here, we have prevented a great amount of suffering and death. If we had smarter and more ethical people in office, perhaps we could have done so without hurting businesses so much, and made government employees share in the burden. But the majority of the restrictions are not ridiculous.
