Anyone using those small wind generators for electricity? Any known county ordinances against? I think there is a distributor on the Kona side.

Aloha Tolleys,
No ordinances against the wind generators that I know of, but there might be some restrictions on the pole you mount them on. Many times they don't want tall poles for either antennas or wind generators placed where if they fell over they would land in a neighbor's yard.
Some boats in the harbor behind where I used to live aboard had the little generators, one variety was fairly loud, but since then I think they have re-designed the blades so they are quieter.
Sauces and Propane across the street and down the hill a bit from the Honokaa post office have them in stock if you'd like to save on shipping.
At some point we are thinking of getting a wind generator, but haven't done it yet.
A hui hou,
Cathy

Thanks Cathy - hadn't heard of that business. Will check it out and the pole hieght requirements.
There was an article in the Wall Street Journal on this new wind genrator from the website I posted and it stated that the new sustem is very quite, but I guess that is relative. After testings, the company has also improved the design for marine environments.

Surprisingly, according to their wind map the “Wind Power Classification” in Puna is poor.
