New Covid variant named Mu
#1
Mu is resistant to the current vaccines and will require a new vaccine.  A booster shot will not do the trick with this one.

Originating in Colombia it will make it's way to Puna eventually.

Welcome to the new normal.
Assume the best and ask questions.

Some of that is true.
But,  "... will require a new vaccine.  A booster shot will not do the trick with this one... ",
looks to be purely your fabrication.

They don't know enough about this one yet to make these types of statements.

Anti-Vaxers are a  large cause of the origination of new strains.
So, it will happen sooner or late, thanks to you and yours.

Agreed. The new normal is having to deal with conspiracy theorists, anti-vaxxers, the lies they post, and the harm they do to everyone else whether it's deliberate or through ignorance.

"It has mutations that have the potential to evade immunity provided by a previous Covid-19 infection or vaccination, the WHO said."

No it isn't 1voyager1
not Aarons fabrication.  I was listening to NPR and others share that conclusion or idea too.  Not just Aaron.

Mu already in Hawaii. Not considered an immediate threat. Accounts for 1% of domestic cases. May evade vaccine, this is suspected but not proven.

Not a fabrication. Also being reported by Fox if anyone prefers that flavor.

The World Health Organization is the source for the notion that Mu may render the current vaccines obsolete.

This information is being disseminated by many outlets.

Mu was first noted in January of this year - one month after Lamba, so not actually "new" & like Lambda has been noted as a WHO VOIs (thus the naming of this variant)... both originated in South America
At least 49 states have verified cases of Mu (& cases have been falling since July unlike some of the Variants of Concern (VOC)) & it is more wide spread in South America... as a VOI, it is not as worrisome for the regulators as VOCs that have not shown reductions & have gone beyond the initial, which for Mu indicates:"Early research from Italy shows mu is susceptible to antibodies produced by the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, but they don't work as well as they do against the original strain or alpha variant. Early research from the U.K. found specific mutations may help mu escape the immune system."
When you read through this list you will see "may" in most of the variants... that is a POTENTIAL of the variant, that makes it a VOI, not necessarily what WILL happen in real life... Early research in 2 countries with far different vaccine status can give remarkably different results... which is why we have the more ambiguous terms "may", "uncertain" rather than the wording that the OP chose to use!

Yes.  Exactly.
Here are a few other VOI's which have been identified but have not yet caused worldwide impact (below).  Ever heard of them, other than lambda?

There are four other VOIs being watched by the WHO – eta, iota, kappa and lambda – but none of these have been reclassified as a VOC. That might be the case with mu as well, but we have to await further data.
