Geico Insurance experience
#1
My wife is pressing me to switch our cart policies to Geico to save money. I am resistant because they have no office or personel on island and that worries me.

Does anyone have any experience with this compnay regarding claims? I am positive they will take my checks and cash them. Will they replace my windshield or make repairs without a hassle?

thanks in advance.

The only experience I have with Geico was calling to get a flat repaired. I figured I paid for it, so I'd let them do it. One call was all it took. No problem. But that was a minor claim.

Hi, Rob.

We've had Geico for years. While no direct HI experience, I can say they've been great in CA. They don't have offices or in-person contacts there either, but have been good to deal with over the phone. Very easy to get a hold of. We have had three claims with them and all were dealt with in a timely and friendly fashion.

When we moved here, we kept Geico.

I have been with GEICO for more than 10 years. All I ever needed was a flatbed truck towing and flat repair a few times and it was easy to work with them. BTW, they have an office in Honolulu.

Hmmm. Maybe I can get over my fear of change. I have had State Farm for over 20 years and admit that I have become disillusioned by the reports of State Farms treatment of the Katrina claims. I wouldn't mind telling State Farm goodbye and why.

We've had GEICO for over a decade and are very satisfied. In that time we have had 3 broken windshield claims and they've all been handled with no problems whatsoever.

Not sure about Hawaii, but in most parts of the country they try to steer you to Safelite Auto Glass for windshield repair or replacement, and the service is excellent.

BTW, GEICO is a Berkshire-Hathaway company and they give nice discounts if you tell them you're a BRK.A or BRK.B shareholder.

aloha,
Gene

I just switched from Hartford to Geico a few days ago. I did it all online at the Geico website. Hartford just kept increasing the premium year after year.

As Gene has said we have Geico and are happy with it.

I was a life long State Farm customer, and then in 1989 there was an earthquake Loma Preta, and the Oakland Hills fire. State Farms horendous treatment of each of these events sent me searching for a new insurer.

If you can own just one share of BRK-A, then you are lucky. That stock never splits. It's currently trading at $108,800.00 a share!
