My Mexican wife and I like New Mexico Mex Food. She was born there !

LOVE New Mexico food. I traveled to Albuquerque for work for awhile. Roasted chiles make a difference.

Honestly I am still unsure what exactly kind of food the Mexican place I used to always go to before I moved was.

This was my favorite item:

Burrito Cancun ($10): a Large flour tortilla stuffed with grilled chicken or steak, Mexican rice, melted cheese, pinto beans, fresh grilled mushrooms and white creamy sauce.

What kind of food is this even?

This was also good:
Salmon al Mango ($13): Atlantic salmon fillet seasoned and grilled to perfection, topped with our special mango sauce, served with rice.

I guess I will call them someday and try to convince them to give me the recipes.

Sometimes it's PU-natic as in fanatic and sometimes it's puna-TIC as in lunatic.

On any given day the operative pronunciation is in the eye (or mouth) of the beholder.

Oh yeah and in the spirit of staying on topic, Luquins is so much better than Taco Time, the very first South of the Border restaurant that I ever tried.

Luquin’s should think about cooking huli huli chicken in their parking lot like GJ’s Huli Chicken in Kamuela with the smell of the BBQ smoke inviting people over.

It would be huge improvement for the taste of their food. We prefer Panchos Taco truck at the old Luquin’s parking lot. Not sure how good of an idea that was to invite a better Mexican food service to your old location.

I saw that Coco Cantina has signs in the old Lucy’s Taqueria in Hilo, coming soon. Went to the new one in Puna Kai once.
