I've been following all these replies and much of it is over my head...I definitely need to learn a LOT about these systems. I do feel that LiFePO4 are going to have to be the way to go, but still think I can go with a very small system, owing to my small needs.
Generator-wise, still finding the Honda EU2200i to be the winner. Just went to Steve's Honda and they are OOS and have a wait list. Will be checking White Cap soon.
Thanks again for all the info/replies. Good to get real-time real-life info from real folk here.

Thanks! I had thought about that, but then wondered if I had a problem with it if I would have issues with support, so felt for something that pricey I might do better to get it locally. And Amazon charges over twice what Steve's does.
Am not in a huuuge hurry, so may wait a bit and see if I hear from Steve's.

I started out at 48 volts because I got the APC SmartUPS3000 for free. It was good for 2700 watts continuous load. I don't recall overloading that one either. Anyway I still recommend getting eight 6-volt golf cart batteries from Costco and a modest capacity 48 volt sine-wave inverter. I see anything less as false economy.
