SPECTRUM Rip-Off

I am taking Spectrum to court, and I was wondering if anyone else has experienced the horrendous billing theft that I have. I signed up for a Spectrum bundle (phone/Inernet/TV/sports package) back in 2018. I agreed to a monthly bill of $154 to be auto debited from my bank account. Within a few months, the bill was $157 a month. Then $162, $168, $174. This has continued for almost 5 years where each month my Spectrum bill is a few dollars more. This month's bill is $230. In the last five years, I have never added services or bought any products, yet the detailed billing description shows that my "Bundled Services" consistently increases every month.

Has anybody else had similar experiences? If so, what did you do about it? I appreciate your input. BTW, I've lived in the same house in HPP for 12 years.

I have TV, Gold level with DVR (110), Slowest internet (50), "Other" fees and taxes (33), for a grand total of $193. I have a 12 month discount on the TV totaling $40 which is good for a year, 5 months left on that.

I did find out from a Spectrum employee that after the promotion expires, if you cancel TV for at least 30 days, you can get the promotional fee again for another 12 months. I guess I'll have to decide in December if I want to go without TV for a month to save $480.

Sounds like your price may not be too bad considering you have phone and a sports package. I wish they would give a discount to people who NEVER watch sports and still have to put up with the numerous sports only channels.

We once had Dish Network for about 5 years and the same thing happened. Prices kept going up year after year without adding anything. We finally got rid of it but even that took almost 6 months because they didn't want us leaving so they offered us discounts on everything to stay.  Sounds like Spectrum is the same way.  We now have $50.00 monthly internet with Aloha Broadband, we watch free OTA TV (when it's working) and a one time $29.95 Roku chip to stream TV shows and movies. We also read a lot. Works for us.

Minimum internet service and Roku works for me. There is more content om Roku than I can possibly watch... and if you like sports you can subscribe to a sports platform ala carte.

Cable sucks. Spectrum sucks big time.

Ditto Rob - Any TV or Movie that I want to watch is streaming somewhere. No more need for TV + Internet. And yes, Spectrum does indeed suck.

If you like live cable channels and DVR, but not sports, check out Philo. It's like $20/month but includes many of the big name channels.

I have and highly recommend Roku. It's awesome. I only have cable TV because my partner is addicted to it. I do like the DVR though...

Mahalo for everyone's input and opinions. You've given me a lot to think about. My problem is that I'm a retired pro tennis player who coached lots of high school, therefore I MUST have the Tennis Channel. I watch it every day from the DVR where I collect matches, then FF through the boring parts or players that I don't enjoy. I do not believe that I can do that if I only have streaming. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Mahalo.

My parents Spectrum cable bills both rose 40.00 a few months ago. I ended up cancelling everything except their Internet service. I switched to You Tube TV, which is excellent replacement. I don't think it has the Tennis Channel, but it has a excellent online DVR function and live TV built in. In addition, the learning curve isn't that difficult. Both of my parents are in their late 70s and were able to quickly figure out how to use it.

YouTube TV and Hulu Live TV don't offer the Tennis Channel but I believe  Sling TV and Fubo TV does.

I usually wait for football/basketball season to commence then I subscribe to Hulu or Youtube then cancel after college basketball ends.  I also do ESPN plus because it carries certain conference games for $8/month.

Each year the subscription rates go up for live sports streaming.  They know their subscribers have cut cable and they have us by the balls.
