Looking to build a garage and can't find anyone to draw plans to submit to county. HPM too busy, Hilo Drafting too busy. Seems like everyone is too busy.
Anyone have any past experience they can share? Thanks.

Would it qualify for the agricultural accessory building exemption? You could store a pack of seeds in it. :-)

Argus has garages available on their website...maybe try there?

State rules allow 5K square feet "utility structure" on Ag-zoned land. Pretty sure it's in a thread somewhere. Any plumbing/electrical have to be permitted per County, and you have to abide by setbacks, but "State rules pre-empt" on the structure itself, especially if it's made of "pre-engineered components" (shipping container, greenhouse from a kit, etc).

Thanks for the suggestion, Punikahakaiferret. I'll check out Argus.
Kalakoa and randomq, thanks, but it will be easier to "follow the rules". Neighbors are busybodies who "observe and report" anything they don't like... which is everything.

I agree, Chas... I can appreciate "busybody" neighbors observing and reporting actual illegal activity, i.e.; theft, burglary, vandalism, drugs, fireworks/firearms, animal abuse, etc., but beyond that, they need to "mind their own beeswax". But they don't.

State laws are "rules" too.

I look at like this. Follow ALL the rules, then the pesky neighbors are frustrated and wasting THEIR time when they try to object.
Proving you are following someone else's rules frustrates me and wastes MY time.

Aloha Chas
I am inthe same situation. Need to build a workshop/garage.
From my research it needs to be permited . County webite specifically says a garage needs a permit, I can post the reference later,
Do you have any luck finding someone to draft plans?

If you are zoned AG you can build a small workshop without a permit.
