Orchidland Drive damaging vehicles
#1
Reports on social media of people's vehicles getting damaged by gigantic potholes on the side of the road entering OLE from the highway, and one report of an injury and a vehicle getting stuck / disabled.

I turned in there a few days ago and it looked like a bombed-out runway.  I avoided damaging my car by using the outbound lane, thankfully traffic allowed me to do that.  Apparently the road is worse today and the potholes are full of water making it impossible to see they are practically sinkholes.

I don't know the current status but last I read the road association and the county are pointing fingers at each other over who is responsible for that part of the road.

The finger pointing has been going on for years. The largest potholes were covered over when Kaleo's opened. I had assumed that Keleo's had done it because of the timing but who knows. I guess whoever did it didn't do a very good job. Thanks for the heads up.

It's a private road; nobody is required to drive there. I've been told many times "you chose the cheap land and low taxes".

County has money for Waipio Valley, is it public?

Now that the water drained away, they either patched it or put gravel in the holes. I did still see a couple really deep ones but nothing like last week.

I drove through there yesterday and the craters have been patched. Just don't get to close to the side of the road there was at least one hole I couldn't see the bottom of.

It looked like they were digging it up and repairing the base today. Hopefully after it's fixed it will last for awhile. I love Orchidland store, but stopped going due to the damage to the car getting there...

I call it Meth Mart. Avoid it whenever possible.
