They did mention everyone would be treated regardless of their ability to pay.

Yes, it’s a law from the 1930’s. But not every hospital is in an area with 9% uninsured and 20% with unknown insurance coverage. That’s a lot of unpaid medical bills.

Oh they're paid, just by the rest of us working suckers not on medquest, medicare, or the ER First plan. Why do you think the aspirin costs $5 a pill and the pillow $50?

With the current doctor and nurse shortages on the island, where do they think they will get enough staff?

Hopefully from the federal government “we’ll send you to a place no one wants to go for 3 years and forgive your student loan” program. (It’s a real program)
“Why do you think the aspirin costs $5 a pill and the pillow $50?”
Going out on a limb here, but maybe just maybe part of the reason why the aspirin costs $5 a pill is due to Bayer having just been ordered to pay 2 plus billion in addition to the 9 plus billion already ordered to be paid over its colossal failure of their acquisition of Monsanto and all of its Roundup claims as well as the 8 plus million the newly appointed CEO gets paid versus us blood sucking Medicare recipients. As for the pillow, well, that pillow guy does seem to have fallen on hard financial times chasing wild conspiracy theories of stolen things.

-------------- Aspirin is $9.29 per 100 (325mg) at CVS... That is barely over 9 cents each.

Easy! Just import them from the mainland for $11k/week. Not mentioned in that article was that wasn't even for a 40 hour week. I can remember the exact number (my daughter was offered to be a strike nurse) but it was in the 30s. Maybe it was 40 hours considering the daily bus ride from Waikiki and back.

$1.08 per 100 at the Hilo Walmart. Geez Long's is almost as bad as the hospital!
