* WHAT...Snow and freezing rain. Total snow accumulations of 5 to
8 inches with freezing rain that could produce ice
accumulations around two tenths of an inch.
* WHERE...Big Island Summits.
* WHEN...Until 6 PM HST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet,
and ice are expected or occurring. This will make travel very
hazardous or impossible. Any travel plans to the summits should be
postponed until the threat diminishes.

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall possible.
* WHERE...The Big Island.
* WHEN...From 6 PM HST this evening through late Monday night.
* IMPACTS...Flood prone roads and other low lying areas may be
closed due to elevated runoff and overflowing streams. Urban areas
may receive more significant flooding and property damage due to
rapid runoff.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- A low level trough moving into the Big Island from the east
will be enhanced by a deepening upper level system producing
moderate to heavy rainfall mainly over the eastern slopes of
the Big Island starting this evening. The heaviest rainfall
amounts are forecast to fall along the eastern slopes of the
Big Island from North Kohala, down the Hamakua Coast, into
the Hilo and Puna Districts.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
A Flood Watch means that conditions are favorable for flash
flooding. Flash Flooding is LIFE THREATENING. Do not cross fast
flowing water in your vehicle or on foot.
