hyperbolic and utterly inaccurate
Sounds like you would be in the 4% who give it less than 4-Stars. 86% gave 5-Stars. If it is indeed a stretch Fiend, then I apologize for my post the other day about Hawaiians living on the mainland. I am still feeling my way around here on PW and quite frankly, I see this thread as a litmus test. Someone made a similar challenge earlier in the thread and Edge swatted it out of the park, so there is that. Following 2 sins' lead the other day, I removed a post because I am sensitive to our responsibility to self moderate. Lastly, I will say that Rob Tucker lingered on this thread after I posted that and I can assure you that he will not hesitate to zap an entire thread that he feels like zapping. It's his world, we just live in it.
From your Amazon link the AI (OK I hear you) summation of the reviews is:

Readers describe the reading experience as fantastic and a must-read. They find the character inspirational, reasonable, and able. They appreciate the author's narrative style as easy to read.
I wish you all the best.

Ok Hawaii’s rep in the US House of Representatives commented on the person she replaced, Tulsi Gabbard. I’ve edited the entire quote to remove national politics, but left the intent and sentiment.

I have no interest in reading Tulsi's book. I don't have any interest in her other than as a curiosity. I'm certainly not a modern day democrat. I'm much more conservative. But I can't imagine ever voting for Tulsi for anything. She's no conservative. However I don't understand the democrats hate for her. She sure seems much more like a democrat than anything else. Of course I also don't really understand democrats hate for Trump as he's no conservative either. He is a populist and seems to fit the mold of democrats of 50 years ago more than anything else, other than being more anti-war, which is a good thing. Have we forgotten Vietnam and our more recent debacles? So why the hate for Tulsi? Is being anti-war bad? I realize a lot of Hawaii's income is from defense spending in one form or another but war is a very high price to pay. Is it just because she bucked Hillary? Did she do such a poor job of representing Hawaii? I've noticed that she is a good speaker. It seems she must be a good writer too based on reviews. Did she use a ghost writer? It surprises me that Trump is so cozy with Tulsi, and that bothers me a bit. I guess he's just using her. But then again, neither are conservatives and I guess both are more populist than anything else. Hawaii can have her back as far as I'm concerned. But why do y'all hate her so much. Please, take her back!

Oink that is a lot to unpack and I will run afoul of the 2's if I go into full detail. Suffice it to say it's a feature of the system and not a bug. Certain types of organizations always vilify departing members. They utilize in-group/out-group mentality, phobias, and coercive control to lessen the impact of departing members. Vilifying the departing members helps those remaining overcome cognitive dissonance and lowers the chance that they too will question their own involvement in the organization, which could lead to more defections.

That’s true.
Another feature of the Hawaii political system is that Republicans are rarely elected in statewide races. I never thought Tulsi was a Democrat even when she claimed to be a Democrat. She just pretended and played the game to get elected.
Now she’s looking for a job on the other side and if her goal is to get an administration position or a talking head on an editorial tv channel, she’s really working it. She’s learned how to work it.

I get not wanting to run as a Republican in Hawaii politics but Tulsi sure as heck isn't a Republican.

Looks like there are some new developments.
West Oahu is a new Republican ‘stronghold’
By Dan Nakaso|Sep. 8th, 2024
https://www.staradvertiser.com/2024/09/0...tronghold/
"Their support comes from voters’ frustration at Democrats for not doing more to address the cost of living in Hawaii and other problems facing everyday people, according to Tulba and other Republicans.
“Democrats have been in power for over 60 years and their policies are why people are leaving the State and can’t afford to live here,” said Tulba in a text to the Honolulu Star-Advertiser. “People are sick and tired of the same political machine ruining their home and only benefiting select groups of insiders. Folks on the west side want change, and they aren’t afraid to vote for change. … The west side people are dynamic and they want to elect people who represent their values and protect their freedom and safety.”
Garcia said the area has seen massive change since the plantation era died a generation ago, leading former sugar cane land to be replaced with suburbs and strip malls.
Republicans’ message, Garcia said, resonates with constituents that Hawaii’s Democratic-controlled political system hasn’t dramatically improved the lives of working families, many of whom moved to West Oahu to buy cheaper homes only to face frustrating commutes to and from town.
According to Garcia, many Native Hawaiians in the district “have socially conservative values and they realize their values align with Republican values of limited government and putting local families first.”
In a text to the Star-Advertiser, Alcos wrote that “Conservative values, such as smaller government, lower taxes, and traditional family values, have resonated with voters on the west side, guiding their decisions and preferences. Additionally, the party’s emphasis on economic growth and job creation has appealed to residents seeking financial stability and prosperity … .
“The growing support for Republicans is further amplified by the backing of local churches in our districts, such as Inspire Church, Bread of Life, and New Hope Leeward, which promote conservative values and contribute to the thriving community,” Alcos wrote. “These churches, along with local politicians who understand and address the daily struggles of the community, have played a vital role in shaping the political landscape and garnering support for Republican candidates.”
Tamara McKay, chair of the Republican Party of Hawaii, said the gridlock getting to and from the West Side reduces the quality of life for voters that’s reflected at election time.
“We are on an island in the middle of an ocean and the traffic is like San Francisco, while all the money is dumped into rail that goes nowhere,” she said. “There are repercussions for the majority in office. They’ve made us dependent on imports in a state that has perfect year-round weather to grow crops and raise cattle to feed our state, while groceries are out of control. Why aren’t our politicians doing common sense solutions?”
As a result, McKay said, “billionaires and foreign investors are coming in while families are moving out because they can’t afford it. For younger families, the American dream is dying. For the younger generation, it is up to them to vote. That’s the only way we can save the state and make changes.”

By statewide I meant to say governor, senator, US House. There are a few traditionally Republican districts, representing specific areas on some islands. Occasionally Linda Lingle will win something that encompasses more than a single district.
