"But it should be clear to all that County likes the situation just the way it is, and no changes will be forthcoming."
No truer words were ever spoken!
I think we will see Elon dancing in his space suit on the planet Mars long before we will ever see the County dealing with all of these substandard subdivision roads.

And the substandard subdivision roads will continue to suffer, as will owners who live in these subdivisions, as long as voluntary community associations are allowed to run rogue, force owners to pay them supposedly restricted road maintenance fee money and then use that money for "so much more" that isn't roads.

incendiary posts, especially common from this one specific poster
Don't mind they/them. They have zero "credulity" and are quite literally, "postal".
My guess is the moderators have internalized the futility of banning someone who apparently has a history of just coming back immediately under a new alias. Not everyone serves their time and makes an honest effort at self reform Julie.
I wish you all the best.

LOL! Actually, the effort at my own self reform was quite easy - once I realized that responding to they/them using the same vile disgusting and offensive names and terms (quoted verbatim) that I was called - was what cost me!
Speaking of the County and Special Improvement Districts, I came across this piece someone in Hawaiian Acres wrote up - where there is a low soft grumbling attempt to make road fees significantly higher AND mandatory - and how a Special Improvement District comes to be.
The single most important matter to note - is that while every property owner in a potential Special Improvement District gets to vote yes or no - except that if they do not respond, they just voted yes!

Aloha HiloJulie,
It is interesting that "Homowner Fees= Assessments" is listed under both Pros and Cons.

I was involved in a SID in Utah.
I lived in East Millcreek, an unincorporated section of Salt Lake County just south of the Salt Lake City limits. We had a patched together water system that was a bunch of small private water systems that were provided water by Salt Lake City.
We had a vote to replace all of the water lines but it was voted down.
A short while later a Junior High School burned to the ground because of low water pressure.
The upgrade was a mandatory SID.
Everyone in the area got a bill for $6000.00. You could pay up front, monthly or yearly.
There was a lien on your property until you paid and if you didn't make any payments at all your property would be foreclosed on and sold at a tax sale.
Be careful what you wish for but hey, We could end all of this bickering by doing it that way.
Patricia, City delivery has never been and never will be an option in HPP.
CBU's are the only choice and they cannot be a long the existing roads.
That's it. Bottom line. No debate. Fact !!
What you read in the POM does not apply to HPP, so drop it.
How would HPPOA settle with Nicole Craig ? She wants punitive damages of $50.000.00 from the President, VP, and the entire board plus she is demanding the same from HPPOA.
She wants the USPS to remove 3 Millon worth of mailboxes and the lots to be replanted with weeds and invasives.
How could they possibly agree to that ???

Please provide evidence of these statements.
My experience with HPP politics on various committees, and on the board, for the past 14 yrs says otherwise. The USPS was willing to add more cluster boxes to the HPP easements. I was on the board when this dialog was going on between the Membership Mailbox Committee and the board. I attended a meeting where the local postmaster and the Honolulu postmaster attended. The Honolulu postmaster flew in and was given a tour of our subdivision and the existing cluster boxes. They were all on board to add more cluster mailboxes on the easements with improvements. This was before your time as a lot owner in HPP.

The deed entitles the plaintiff damages whether she prevails or not. The board was well aware of that language in the deed before they decided to move forward stating they would their chances. I attended that special board meeting when lot owners asked the board to negotiate with the Watumulls FIRST. I guess you didn't attend that meeting Obie. The board refused to negotiate with the lot owners, hence the lawsuit was filed.

The mailboxes were installed AFTER the lawsuit was filed. Don't you think perhaps the board was reckless and arrogant to move forward knowing the judge could "request the land return to it's natural state" as he stated at an early hearing? Yet the board kept moving forward expeditiously, clearing more land and installing mailboxes. Question: Why would the board illegally form their own Bylaw Committee (after dissolving the Members BLC) to amend bylaws to give them authorization to spend lot owner monies as they wish, IF the bylaws already provided them that authorization as they claimed?

The bottom line is, the board has breached their fiduciary duty. They did not read their history, did not research the deeds (how and why they were given), did not approach the Watumulls, adopted law that does not apply, violated bylaws, illegally dissolved an owner/member committee, spent hundreds of thousands on a non-road project, and are throwing hundreds of thousands (probably millions) at a lawsuit that could have totally been avoided. The HPPOA board did not do its due diligence- period.
Mailboxes are just the tip of the iceberg and we should not allow ourselves to be distracted by that topic.
HPPOA was, is, and will continue to be a thorn in HPP owners sides until HPPOA is reigned in, properly managed, and controlled. And if HPPOA does not want to be controlled? Then they can give up collecting owner road fee money, go on their merry way as a voluntary social club, collect their voluntary dues, and let a proper management company collect HPP road maintenance money and conduct HPP road business. If this were done, there would be no need to talk about SIDs or County intervention- "substandard subdivisions" could take care of their own roads.
And Mr. O, you trying to pass Nicole Craig off as though she is the big bad wolf in all of this is totally false. Nicole did not violate deed restrictions. Nicole did not adopt law that does not apply to HPPOA. Nicole did not do any of the violations that I have already listed in paragraph one. And Nicole did not involve the Watumull's. All of that is on the HPPOA board. And unlike the HPPOA board, Nicole is not using HPP Owner money to pay for her legal fees. She is donating her time, her resources, her expertise. Asking for 50K in "compensation" (a word the HPPOA board does not understand) will not even begin to cover her personal losses.
At this point, what have ANY on the HPPOA board personally lost? Less than bupkis. Because EVERYTHING they have done, are doing, is paid for with HPP Owner road fee money. HPPOA are not the victims in this mess. HPP Owners are. And HPPOA crying in OUR spilt milk is disgusting. This is ALL HPPOA's fault.

would think that the "new" moderation of PunaWeb would deal specifically with these types of incendiary posts
Note: the number of red flagged reports received on this thread is higher by a wide margin than on any other thread. Some take more time than you would imagine.
Think of the IGNORE feature that’s offered to all Punaweb members as your personal power to ban someone whose posts you find offensive.
