Please read an excerpt from the Punaweb Forum Rules which members agreed to when they registered. I have placed a portion in bold, which most relates to the recent deletions and comments about censorship:
By registering on this discussion system you agree that you will not post any material which is knowingly false, inaccurate, abusive, hateful, harassing, sexually orientated, threatening or invasive of a person's privacy, or any other material which may violate any applicable laws.
Failure to comply with these rules may result in the termination of your account, account suspension, or permanent ban of access to these forums. Your IP Address is recorded with each post you make on this discussion system and is retrievable by the forum staff if need-be. You agree that we have the ability and right to remove, edit, or lock any account or message at any time should it be seen fit.

When you agreed to be the Moderator, I bet you didnʻt think it would be a full time job, did you? :-)
Are these rules posted on this site or just when we first join? For some of us, this has been quite awhile ago so maybe a visible reminder might help. I also miss the former caveat to not post more than five times a day. It was average five times a day but some recent loudmouths merit making it EVER. Just my opinion. Thanks for being willing to herd the cats.
Certainty will be the death of us.

You can read the entire agreement by signing out. You will then view Punaweb as a Guest. Click register, and the agreement page appears.

Edit Reason: Numerical Typo
)
The posts per day argument is, when you peel the layers of the onion back a bit and really think about it, quite funny and not well thought out.
Let's take me for example (since, at the end of the day, I am the real target behind that comment)
As of this post, I have made 1,137 posts. I have been a member for 559 days. That averages out to me making 2.03 posts per day.
Now, if we were to strictly limit my posts to 5 per day, that means in the 559 days I have been a member of PW I COULD HAVE made a total of 2,795 posts.
Clearly, I am way behind!
From what I have been able to research here on PW, the 5 post per day average rule has been in effect since 2006ish.
I think it's working just fine!
I'd also like to thank M2 for his/her efficient and effective moderation in the last few days.

Definitely not! But the unpaid overtime makes it all worthwhile.

I don't understand why this has been brought up. Yes, some people in the distant past thought the rules were that you couldn't post more than five posts a day. I don't know who the recent loudmouths are because I've seen no one bring this up again, but I don't know what "EVER" means. The PW rule is pretty obvious and clear, and one or two people broke it in the past because they just wanted attention. But I can't think of anyone here right now who is close to breaking that rule.
What I do see is inconsistent moderation. I mean no offense to Rob or Moderator2, but some people here seem to have a license to use several accounts after being banned or just being so embarrassed for what they posted they start again with a new username but quickly resort to their previous poor behavior. That's something I'd like to see fixed.

A couple of things about the operating system on this forum.
Until this last week I haven’t used many of the features available to moderators. It wasn’t necessary.
Then it became necessary.
The delete feature allows me to restore a post. What I discovered is if I delete a comment and insert a note, that is the version that is restored, the system will not return to the earlier post, only the most recent. It’s somewhat similar with an attachment. If I delete the attachment I can restore the attachment, but for some reason if I delete it a second time, the post is restored to the most recent version without the attachment. That seems to be how it works.
I can’t save original files of every post that I change. It’s impossible to know which deletions will cause an uproar. If I can figure out a way to avoid the recent incidents I will do that, but it will be a work in progress. It will require some experimentation, so bear with me.
Screenshots work, but I can’t screenshot everything. Everything on Punaweb is not the Kennedy assassination or Project Bluebook.

I need proof. Please show your evidence supporting that. Where are the links?
