Punatang - I dismiss it out of hand
You clearly do dismiss a lot of information out of hand - math, science, vaccination recommendations... Oh to be so wise.
Punatang - Obie asked you a question about your support for domestic terrorists/ism and you ignored him. Why didn't you answer Obie?
Please point me to where Obie asked this and I did not reply.
Punatang - I respect people's right and personal reasons for how they choose to express themselves on Punaweb and in life in general.
Cool, so you respect being told that your commitment to ignorance is exceeded only by the stack of delusions of you operate under. But keep speaking for Rob (while respecting people's right on how they choose to express themselves, of course). In our meetings he's never struck me as a damsel in distress that needs saving, but if that's your current fantasy, rip those bodice strings and embrace it fully. Only Team Punatang can ride to the rescue and protect everyone on Punaweb from the recommendations of the Hawaii Department of Health!

Punatang, I am going to suggest you stop being hyper critical of members. Stop.
Assume the best and ask questions.

You have "meetings" with Rob? Are you Moderator 2?

Nah, I'm far too unhinged to play Moderator here. You need more steady hand and even keel to manage these tempestuous and forlorn seas. However I, like others on Punaweb, have done irl business with Rob and in those meetings got a fair impression of his temperament and demeanor. More of a stoic oak than a wilting violet IMO and able to handle discussions and disagreements for himself.

Let me be critical. You suggested that Punatang stop being "hyper critical. " I haven't seen those posts, but then you say, "Stop." That's not a suggestion. It's the site owner saying stop posting certain things. So why bother with "suggest"?
Is it OK to post lies about members? You've always allowed that to happen, even when you knew they were lies, but now you jump on people being critical. Being critical or asking questions seems to be discouraged at the moment. Are we all supposed to sing Kumbaya or something? Exchanging opinions often results in disagreements and even bad feelings, but that is not an excuse to lie or make vulgar claims against your opponent. Yet you let it happen all the time. Now we get insulted by the owner moderator for asking questions about what someone posted. So, if you want to call members "clowns, " remember what they did for you, this site, charities, Pahoa schools, and sharing info on PW that members wouldn't get elsewhere.

Check this out: https://health.hawaii.gov/news/newsroom/...nizations/
]"The majority of this increase in missing school-required immunizations is from 7th grade school requirements that were implemented in 2020 during COVID. For the 2023-2024 school year, 16% of kindergarteners were not up to date with school-required vaccinations compared to 55% of seventh graders."
So, perhaps the blame isn't with all the MAGA and new age hippie parents, it's due to these new rules that are more difficult and time consuming to completely satisfy?
And BTW: "Medical exemptions have increased from 0.07% in 2019-20 to 0.16% in 2023-24 but continue to remain low overall."

The problem is not MAGA, not hippie new agers etc. It's stupid people who become parents and teach their kids nonsense. I guess there is a large overlap between those on the political extremes, but in the end, the parents are responsible for their children's health. I'm glad schools here don't allow unvaccinated kids to attend school; it gives the responsibility of teaching back to the parents. I feel very sorry for the kids, and I hope they can talk to others and explain why they can't attend school like most children.
Now, why we seem to have more feckwit adults and parents is a completely different subject, but it's hard not to ignore social media's role.
Rant over.

Here's the context for the change in 2020 - basically, Hawaii updated its vaccine schedule to match CDC recommendations for the first time in about 20 years.
https://www.civilbeat.org/2019/08/health...uirements/
Not sure why these vaccine requirements at 7th grade would be seen as being more difficult or time consuming compared to the previous ones. Rather, since 2020 there has been a well-documented rise in anti-vax rhetoric and vaccine hesitancy, including locally which has led to an increase in kids not being up to date with their vaccinations. While Medical Exemptions (which require a doctor's sign-off) remain small, Religious Exemptions, which only require the caregiver to attest that their vaccine objections are bona fide beliefs, are where can be found some of the largest groups of kids not up to date on their vaccines. Malamalama Waldorf in HPP, for instance, has like a 60% Religious Exemption rate as a particularly extreme local example. So to be clear, schools here can and do allow unvaccinated kids to attend school if they file for an exemption.
As previously mentioned, one of the changes in 2020 was to add the HPV vaccine requirement for 7th grade. There's like a couple hundred known Human papillomavirus, which are transmitted through skin contact, usually during sex, but also can be from simple contact like holding hands. HPV is responsible for several types of cancer, including nearly all cases of cervical cancer. Thankfully as more individuals have gotten vaccinated before becoming sexually active, we've seen a rapid drop in cases of HPV related cancers, notably a steep decline in the rates of cervical cancer in young women, including almost eliminating cervical cancer deaths in the U.S. for that age group.
TLDR: Vaccines work. If you care about your health and the health of your family and community, please get vaccinated.
