Also try Ben Alonzo up at Keaau Service - he has the two cranes to do it and has done a 40' high cube that I saw with barely a sweat.

And Kapt kimo - like the progress! Good to see it going! How is the other one going? Like the house design too! Wink ! Wink!

Me again, keeping our thread alive. - Our framing is coming along nicely. We are taking delivery of our roof trusses on Wednesday from Honsador. We already have all the metal roofing on site. Does anyone know of experienced roofing folks that you could recommend who might be available to help us? See our progress at: http://picasaweb.google.com/kaptkimo/BUI...SEINHAWAII

Jim, I see that you have a “down draft” vent for your Jenn-aire (pic 103). I haven’t seen this arrangement before. How does it work?

David D. - Carol does not want any cabinets or range hoods above any of the counters. She is going for a very open look kitchen. You can see the Jenn-Aire range tops at Sears or go to Jenn-Aire's website. Several models have vent slots around or behind the burners and grills. They then use a fairly large squirrel cage fan to suck all the steam and smoke down and out of the house through a 6 inch duct. Should be nice especially when partnered up with a nice Jenn-Aire Convection over.
--- Our roof trusses arrive tomorrow - goody, goody!

Hi - Jim again. We did a little work today and learned a lot. Had an inexperienced (in carpentry, anyway) all girl crew today - only worked about 4 hours, but we think that now we have figured out some of the tricks of the trade it will go a lot faster over the weekend. It's not much progress but you can check it out at:

I notice on MLS that Nanawale has some of the lowest priced houses of any place on the island. What is the subdivision like? What is the elevation? Mahalo for any information. Lew

Depends on where you are in Nanawale. The first part (closest to the main road) was built up a lot a number of years ago, so you have much closer neighbors and more older (potentially run-down homes). If you get to the back parts, there's some great areas. The community association is really active and puts on a lot of different classes and event, especially for kids.

To answer your elevation question: Google Earth reports around 300' at the very back end of the subdivision to around 600' at the front.
