Kona at SKEA on the 1st Wednesday of everymonth @ 7:00 p.m. A focus is, nurturing the mother, teaching fathers massage techniques and whatever the community is interested in offering as we are looking for volunteers who are interested in sharing their talents to help the next generation before they come into this world. We have a Yoga teacher who is helping to create this class which is called Malama i na keiki along with a friend Clare who is a midwife. All are welcome at these free classes. Pick your spot and grab it now! Don't try to be extra kine greedy by waiting out the market and think you can get even cheaper. Right now is a buyer's market. Find your spot/area and then do your research.
I just moved my family over from Kapahulu. I was tired of paying $1,500.00 a month + utilities. I actually felt like a Hamster in a cage running on the wheel(going nowhere fast). So I decided it was a prime time to look at buying. Right off the bat Oahu was out of consideration, then I thought about where I was raised, Maui....again, out of the question....to expesive there too. All in all the only truly affordable places are either in Puna or Ka'u. I picked Puna for my family, to me it makes sense. We are building a 3 bedroom/2 bath on one acre of land for less than $280K. The place(subdivision) my wife and I decided on was Hawaiian Paradise Park, known as HPP to the locals. For us it was a "no-brainer",right in between Kea'au and Pahoa Town off hwy 130. It takes about 20 minutes to Hilo from there. We are totally satisfied, you folks need to consider buying sooner than later. The housing market is fickled, why wait? Lock-in a 30 year fixed mortgage...NOW!!!

Your right. We are going to be buying real soon. My husband has to go up there to do some work, so he'll be looking around more.
My Sister and her husband just bought in HPP. I have a couple of cousins living there as well. I don't want to live there though. I'd rather keep looking in Ainaloa. Hopefully we'll get lucky and decide on something soon. Thanks again for the response. Kapahulu?? Wow, talk about a concrete jungle over there. I hate Waikiki now. Of course I loved it when I was younger, but it has changed a lot since. My Mom would much rather I stay here on Oahu and move to Waianae (cheaper still) NEGATIVE!! The traffic alone would drive me nuts.

Geez, I have made a mint in the last few weeks shorting LEND and NoviStar. Plenty of easy money to make on the way down.

The subprimes are imploding because the MBS holders are making them buy back defaults. The MBS are getting more defaults because ARMs are ratching up and borrower are throwing back the keys. There are still a massive amounts of reseting ARMs coming this year and next. This game is only starting...

Lets talk market condition, spreads and proper financial planning. A house is a liability until you make money off it, I dont care how much you like it.

Yes, Makalealea I believe housing prices are heading down and wouldnt buy until late 2009 noting current market conditions and trends.

I have my Finances tied up in Stocks right now and was going to very soon sell to purchase Land in BI. It was doing really good, and I didn't expect for it to go as high and as fast as it did. But what do you know, the darn thing is now going down, fast as of last week.
I'm yelling SELL, SELL now, but my husband is saying, nope, leave it alone.
I'm going bald everytime I look at the market. So what do you do? It's a gamble like anything else. I just wish I had the same attitude as my husband. He's so cool headed while I run for the alcohol.

I am very weary of the stock market now as it seems very over sold. We have had alot of bad news since last June and the market just rallies at each turn. I have been mostly out of buying stocks since late 2005 and have missed some of the cream, but I have made more on shorting. I would at least check your position and set in sell markers, discuss this with your husband at XX we are selling out and moving to Tbills. This market reminds me by early 2000. Greed gets a hold of people and they pay for it all the way down.

Remember a house should only be 2-3x your yearly gross, I would count the top wage earner only and should only be 25% of gross earnings monthly and cost 100Xs monthly rent. Relax a house is just a liability until you pay it off, I understand about nesting but think about the liability.
