New Juicy Rumors...

Rumor mill has it that Target is thinking about coming to the big island.... Maybe even Hilo Side! Oh well... I heard they were at the job fair... Might be awhile before they get here... But! Thought I'd start a new rumor to chew on for awhile!

Eric, they have been to both the fall & spring UH-H job fairs. They are currently looking at Oahu sites (none positive currently), hope to have an Oahu location open in 2-4 years, followed by out island, probably Hawaii Island first. The job fair now is to find island business majors to train mainland & then open & manage the Hawaii stores, so the current positions are for mainland training & work, then eventual island positions.

Gexnor, At the trade fair the recruiters stated that they did have a clue, but they did not have a positive location yet, and the Advertiser article: ( http://www.honoluluadvertiser.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070302/BUSINESS08/703020357&GID=vjJAATPGa6+m13fJ1IhG/SYEayFjSyxGRAko+2/FGaA%3D ) on Friday states they are looking at a site in particular...but that the deal has yet to come to fruition.... I remeber that for other Targets that I have seen open, that they have some very specific requirements, and that some locations that looked like a shoe-in were not the sites that Target built on....hence the hedge on the positive...until they get the land, permits & build....

Here is my totally selfish post. Normally I hate the thought of big box retailers and boycott WalMart. But I LOVE Target. This could be awesome. I would really like a Super Target.

Since we're talking about rumors....does anyone know when the International House Of Pancakes (IHOP) is suppose to open in the Prince Kuhio Mall? I thought it was February.....but they still seem to be working on it

I would love a Target too! I can't bring myself to go to Walmart and it would be a struggle not to once I finally move there. Target's level of corporate evilness I can handle a lot better.

Macuu, As of friday (March 9th) the franchise owner is looking at opening IHOP on April 2nd. This from an acquaintance that works in the PKP mall office....
