Kealakekua Bay...

Okay I hadta just tell how wonderful a weekend for us was on Kona side...very pretty. I love living in Puna, firstly. I wouldn't wanna live anywhere else at this point, but it was pretty where we went.

The best part was kayaking across Kealakekua Bay and over to the monument...we were escorted by between 12 and 15 dolphins much of the way and had a big manta ray sail under the kayak...really putting on a show! We snorkeled over there and it was without a doubt the prettiest snorkel place we've seen so far...and that turquois water...amazing. Life is good.

Carrie, Glad to hear that you are giving the kayak a good time! Now we're jealous of both of you guys & the kayak! Did you get any pictures? Did you stick on a mask & hang over the edge of the kayak? (haven't tried this with our open kayak, our old whitewater kayaks would oblige & tip over for you... )

No pictures...we just wanted to be in the moment...and it was the funniest thing when we were headed back across the Bay...there was a guy sitting near us and as I was getting in the front of the kayak he said "Punatic!" (I had my Punatic t-shirt on) Carey it was like he hexed us 'cause just as he said that the kayak flipped and we were in the water! LOL It was so funny! Lost my Ray Bans, but went back and the water was so clear we found 'em no problem.
