Is there a good source for succulents in puna
#11
I'm planning on bringing some cuttings over....does anyone know how long it actually takes to get this inspected by the Ag people when you come into Hilo, will be flying ATA so if the flight comes in at 10pm, i'd hate to wait for them to dig up the ag person because one crazy person on the plane decided to bring in some cuttings...or worse confiscate them since no-one was available to inspect them.

any ideas punawebbers?

Noel,

Wish I was going to be there in June to go to your clipping party! Drat!

I haven't tried to bring in an clippings, but one thing I have read is that if there is any soil at all it goes in the burn barrell so to speak.

Good luck!

PS I just ordered some dichondra silver legacy, it is a grey green dichondra fuzzy leaves look like little ears, so beautiful. Found it in Disneyland and then on line. Drat again it isn't allowed to be shipped to Hawaii. Such a beautiful ground cover too!

Hi mella,

i also like dichondra as a ground cover, it works very well with various sedums, aeoniums, and other hen and chick varieties....are you sure this can't be hand carried - maybe you can bring them as cuttings or root in water and bring over without soil?

hopefully we'll have more people interested in the plant swap.....maybe i should also say this is an impromptu punaweb party to get more people interested in the party part!!!!

Noel an impromptu PW Party would be great. Have you been to one yet? You will meet fun and super people!

I ordered the dichondra silver falls from Parks Seeds and ordered some live plants as well as seeds. The order form for the plants said will not ship to Hawaii, AZ and a few other spots. So I don't know why, invasive?, microbes? who knows but I haven't given up.

Perhaps announcing a PW Party and plant swamp on the PW Forum will get you some response! What fun!!

We have a "HUGE" cactus in our front yard - it is about 12' tall and before we just pull it out and discard it - does any one want it? It does have big thorns.

Why are we taking it out? Bad feng sui in the front of our home and no one is very attached to it. Take pieces or take it all.
