Puakinikini
#1
Has anyone but me not had their puakinikini bloom in Pahoa. I'm down in Hawaiian Shores and haven't gotten a bloom yet. Is there something I need to do?

Let me rephrase. I have the little green balls at the end of the stem, but they haven't turned into flowers yet. Someone mentioned that I needed to water it more in this drought. I will wait to hear more before I soak it. How long is normal for the bud to stay on?

The "little green balls" sound like friut/seed pods), this plant has never bloomed? Sounds odd. If you bought a seedling it may be a long time before you have blossoms. Cuttings from already proven blooming trees of Pua are said to bloom much sooner than seed grown.

The round green balls are seed pods (not flowers) and should be discarded if you want your induce your plant to flower.

I think I will try that. So i cut off the little green balls and that should induce flowers to grow. Thank You
