which service is better?
#1
since Roadrunner is only at the top of HPP, and in and around Beach Rd. for the "Rich and the Shameless", all other residents who wanna watch TV are left with a choice of either DirectTV or DishTV. Can anybody tell me which service is better? I wanna be able to get basic tv and the local stations too.
So, do any of you have bad or good experience with either of these companies that you can share with me and possibly others?

We have had Directv for years now and are quite happy with the service.

Previously were customers of DishTV and have found Directv to be more professional in every way.

We had this discussion not that long ago, and I remember many PunaWebbers have DishTV , and are quite satisfied, so perhaps it is whatever works for you.

By the way Time/Warner and RoadRunner are the same

Yes Fireant, RoadRunner is in HPP! But only at the top near highway, or in and around Beach road where all the money in HPP is..

Every time I call Dish Network to check on promos (about every 6 months) and threaten to change to road runner - I get a good deal on something... this last one was Showtime free for 6 months.... its about time to call again (july)

What about clarit of picture? A friend says the DishNetwork gets fuzzy whenever it rains. Something to do with rain hitting the receiver antenna.

Seems like DishNetwork is cheaper than DirectTV.

Any opinions on this?

My experience is that the Dish signal can be lost during rainstorms, sometimes even when the storms seem weak. This happened where we stayed in HPP and up in Volcano, as well. It never happened during our 8 years on a ridgetop in CA where we had lots of rainstorms. I wonder if the lower satellite angle has something to do with it? That said, our Dish service on-island has been okay.

How is the TWC service? Does anyone get their HD package? Is it worth the cost of the HD reciever and extra monthly charges? I've seen the standard cable in Honolulu and I'm not impressed. I've gotten too accustomed to the Dish program guide; I don't like the bare bones guide on cable. Is there a higher level of programming guide?

very akamai Cat, I'm gonna have to try that myself with Dish after a few months. When I signed up with Dish, I took the HBO package for three months. But I probably should have taken "Showtime". I love the show 'weeds', that is a Showtime production...have you seen it? It's probably my favorite show on TV. Can't wait for season 3 to come out! I get it on my iTunes.

The Oceanic digital cable channel guide leaves a lot to be desired too. Although the picture quality is better than Standard.
