If the power is hooked up than just call HELCO.

The Heco website doesn't work. I was hoping to avoid calling them.

Maaaaaaaay have found a house. More on that later. The power is hooked up.

How long do they take to turn on power?

Hi, Glen.

I'm not sure if its the same as turning the power "on" but we had the electricity tranfered to our name from the mainland. You do have to call HELCO. You decide on a date to start your account, you send them a $100 check for a deposit (which you get back after about a year) and they give you an account number.

It was fairly easy. Not sure if its that easy if the power is currently off at the house.

The really tricky part comes after you move in and try to keep that HELCO bill from sucking up all your cash. : )

Thanks Robin -- that's exactly what I needed to know. Their website has a place where you can start residential service. You click on it and nothing happens.

I think I should probably start getting used to that whole "nothing happens" aspect of things!

The power is currently on at the house, so shouldn't be a problem.

I'll give them a call.
