Superferry foes gathering to fight special session

Maybe we should adopt this philosophy?

"A reminder to KONAWEB Members about the Superferry

Posted by on Tuesday, 16 October 2007, at 6:08 p.m.

As the Superferry debate rages, please keep in mind what many of the long time members already know. You can certainly post your opinions, just remember not to personally attack another member for their opinion, or you will find yourself unable to post. I do not warn people in advance. I just deactivate members who flame, bash or in any way attack another.

If you feel that someone is getting on your case, please send me an email. I may simply delete a post, or I a may trim off the thread. If it is an outright attack, I won't mess around. Do not respond with your own attack.

You can promote your opinion on the forum and you may meet other who share your opinions, but remember that most people do not change their opinions by reading something on a forum.

I really appreciate seeing people help each other or finding things in common. Those of you who do so have my respect and admiration!

Or maybe not?

This is a good thread and the meeting in Kona reflected the majority were opposing the superferry. And yes it isn't about treehuggers, not that there is anything wrong with that. What is sad is that people that care about the environment are somehow degraded to a tree hugger by some people. The issue is about how will this for profit eneterprise affect the environment,a National Treasure and resource(protected by laws). And does the luxury of this transportation override all other parameters that are superlative to luxury.Whales and turtles can not attend meetings.Hawks can not attend meetings or sign petitions. They have a right to live and raise their young as much as we do.Hawaii will loose the very beauty that people, and tourists, come here for in the first place.Plus, what about the influx of vehicles on this country highway.Where are they all going to fit? There are many issues here, like gov.corruption.

Capitalism helps liberty die with tremendous applause, when we begin to covet luxury over all other things.

Aloha,

I was able to attend the senate hearing in kona, all five hours...ugh...
There were a lot of good points made by those testifing on both sides of the debate. The feeling I got from the meeting was that the majority favor the ferry, but the ferry supporters are divided between those who want the EIS first and those who support conducting it while the ferry runs, which give the immpression of a majority against the ferry. The over all feeling was support for the ferry, but follow the current laws.
