my god this man would need an escort at all times and , responsibilities?, question the duties. who is not thinking clearly? am i missing something
he most surely is listed on the web site for child molesters w/ address etc..
I am sure we can all see where this could go,
this poor man needs help but not a position that may lead to authority over singling out children if that is what this is..i would like to be there but i have my little girls children and nieces and nephews to consider yes you watch em like a hawk...i feeel for all the locals and their worry this certainly is a neighborhood watch and way way beyond...

Aloha,

While I agree with you, the council has no control over hiring for staff positions. Please contact the Mayor’s office as he is ultimately responsible for his staff and their decisions.

Wait a minute. People who commit crimes should be forgiven AFTER they have paid their debt to society. It seems to me that he hasn't done that yet. My advice to him would be to double up on the jail time and get it all finished before expecting people to forgive and forget. And no, I don't like the idea of my taxes going to pay this guy, regardless.

I hope this "Matthew" thing doesn't catch on. It's going to be difficult to accomplish things with everyone gouging out their eyeballs and chopping of their limbs. I hope they at least use latex gloves and proper biohazard disposal while doing so to minimize infections.

I have my "BELIEFS" and was not/am not forcing them on the forum or this issue. I was just reponding to the use of scripture.

There is humor in this response that I appreciate.

BUT - my issue is the the child - whatever the age - and the damage already done that will follow the child for LIFE!

As Matthew was relating - don't mess with the chidren - OR ELSE!
Use latex gloves - on at least the one limb left for the eye gouging.

My soapbox rant:

For my part I have a problem with exclamations like "damaged for LIFE" when applied to victims of sexual abuse - especially children. While it might be a dramatic way to make a point and express your outrage it also contributes to continued victimization.

I was a victim of violent crime years ago and it affected me for some time. I got over it. It became part of the past, not my present.

I have to imagine the situation of a person who had been sexually, emotionally or physically abused in their youth. I think the label "damaged for life" is a continuation of abuse and should be avoided.

There are, unfortunately, a lot of abuse victims in this world. Would it not be discouraging for them to be told and reminded that they are "damaged for life" by random strangers? It seems to me unkind to sustain and amplify the sense of being victimized.

Can they not be encouraged to think of themselves as whole and complete individuals and isn't it actually possible to successfully overcome thinking of oneself as a victim and undamaged? Let them heal. Healing is not impossible.

I’m done.
