Does anyone know someone who could perform a simple wedding for my son and his fiance the 18th or 19th at the black sand beach at Kalapana? Only a few people will be there. Just a few words and they will exchange vows and thats it.

are just some places I found on the net. If you had time, some states let anyone just register with the state and then perform the ceremony. You might still be able to. Then someone that is near and dear can perform the ceremony.
Good luck. I will try and find something about registering yourself and let you know if I come up with something.

Here is the state site to become licensed to perform a marriage. It seems like you may need to apply to Honolulu.
Good luck anyway.

I live in Kalapana and I'm an ordained minister with the Universal Life Church and am in the process of awaiting my application from the State Dept of Health. I am expecting it any day now.
I have performed weddings for friends and love to do it!
Let me know if I can be of assistance!

Check with UH for a Prof. of Religion. They will usually do it for cheap.

Well we had a beautiful wedding Saturday evening at Kalapanas new black sand beach with a fantastic display of nature, full rainbow and all!
Christina did a wonderful job of performing the wedding and it was just what my son and his wife wanted. She was so patient with us and let us take a crazy amount of pictures and then we had a lovely simple ceremony with the rolling tides in the background.
What a wonderful place to get married! The wedding couple walked in front of the rest of us the 1/2 mile or so over the lava path and we were watching them and joking about what they must be thinking. It is a little walk. But not bad.
All in all it was just great. They will have such lovely memories of their day.

Sounds wonderful, Nancy. The waves are just beautiful down there...and a rainbow, too!
