Knee Stuff...
#1
Okay, so I am back from the hospital after a smathering of complications and a LOT OF PAIN. I am wondering if I was in my right mind when I decided to do this. I hope it improves because right now I would just as soon shoot myself as breathe!

Does anyone know how Tom Lackey has done? Is he home?

Also, thank you all for your kind notes and good thoughts. I am just taking it one day at a time but do check the computer regularly... anything for distraction!

Smile Pam

Aloha - Pam!

Yes it can be very painful - especially the initial PT.

Like you, I wondered if it was worth it and expressed my despair to the PT specialist - it was a Thursday - He replied keep doing the exercises as best as possible and by Monday I would fell and see an marked improvement - He was right!

I was told not to try and tough it out - the pain medication had a purpose - use it as directed - especially before PT. ICE is your friend it really helps - before and after PT.

We all heal and deal with how our bodies react to a HUGE trauma DIFFERENTLY - my example is just that mine.

The following is a Google search with Knee Forums and recovery stories and information - I found it helpful when I was down.

Pam,

Glad to hear you are back. The pain will eventually give way and you will be better than ever. Everyone I know who has gone through it has said that it was way worse than they expected, but that like childbirth, you forget about some of the pain after you are healed. Just remember the pain you had for years with it will be gone once you have healed up. I agree witgh Joey... take those meds!

Hugs to you!

Hope all is feeling better soon enough.

Surgery is easy... its the Recovery that is always the most painful part. It will be worth it in awhile.

Hope your feeling better soon.

Haven't heard from Lack... (he went in a few days before you) I hope he's laid-out somewhere with some good pain killers.

I just tried calling Tom and it rang and rang and rang. No voicemail option to leave a message. I will try again later, but chances are they decided to make a holiday of it in Honolulu.

Pam, the only reason I opened this posting was out of respect for you. I have been very fortunate in having good health and do not have a high opinion of doctors (possibly due to the generally accepted notion that what they do is called a "practice"). All the very best, Pam.
