Last year when we were there, there was a rather large motorhome parked just south of the original turn around area. Someone had graded a driveway to it. Does anyone local there know if the motorhome and it's inhabitants got out safely? I think some news article that I read recently stated there were two woman living there. They mentioned the woman got out but nothing about the really big motorhome. Funny I don't see it in Volcano website photos

They drove the motorhome out a few days beforehand. We were there as they started it up and drove out waving to the crowd. Their parking spot still looks like it is there as is the driveway.

A new gas vent has become established within Halema`uma`u crater; its appearance has doubled the already-high sulfur dioxide emission rates. Seismic tremor levels continued elevated to several times background levels at Kilauea summit.
wow, that seems different. I don't remember seeing anything about Halema`uma`u before. except maybe last June when all the action shifted and there was that breakout at Mauna Ula.

The steam/gas plume coming out of Halemaumau is something to see. It's huge. I've never seen this. If you are in the area, definitely check it out.
Still no inflation at the summit, so it doesn't sound like there is an eruption imminent...

Did anybody else notice that there was a 2.8 earthquake at the summit of Mauna Loa, right smack dab on top of that rift zone that runs down into HOVE? That is the rift that lit up with 65 ft. tall fountains of lava in the not so distant past.
