We drove up to VNP this morning. I was not prepared for how big and grand the ash plume is. It is so think and dense and comes out of the crater in violent puffs that billow upward. We first viewed it from the back of the Volcano House and then we drove over by the steam vents and walked out that little trail to the overlook there. We were lucky enough to catch one of the HVO scientists who was out there talking and answering questions. In his opinion....this is a BIG deal....but of course, no one knows.

Went up to Kileauea tonight. Awesome plume stuff & a little bit of glow.
The park people are lookig for anyone that has ash from this current eruption. If you do have any (mostly Ka'u people) they ask that you baggie it & write the day collected & location...

My S.O. jotted down this poem for Glen & his bunnies. I nearly peeed my pants!
FOR GLEN
Oh protect me little bunnies
from the approaching lava
I'll feed you bits of lettuce
carrots, mangos, and guava
I get so nervous
as Pele nears
act as cute as you can
blink your eyes, wiggle your ears
Do a little dance
hop and wiggle your tail
With all your cuteness
we just can't fail
I know the lava will go around
and not fill the bunny holes
Pele will see how cute you are

Run to property's edge
