It might be worth asking the people that deliver the container if they would like some extra cash after they get done with work -- you might find someone you could pay a reasonable amount to help you unload it as well.

I've used Big Island Moving and Draying a few times, with good results, but the last time I was not happy with their work, and the guy was complaining bitterly about the folks in the office. Then someone I know told me he that the guys there start drinking during lunch and maybe that's why they were so rushed when they did my job.

I don't mind speed, but theirs was counterproductive. I had all my boxes labeled clearly, and they brought big boxes labeled YARD and GARDEN in and then got grumpy about taking them back out, buried my electronics in the open carport, just didn't want to do anything but take the stuff out of the truck and dump it.

I figure it took me twice as long to wade through my stuff because they couldn't be bothered to work with me a little on putting the boxes in the right rooms, even though I was paying them by the hour. Actually it would have taken less time if they had would have checked the label before picking up the box.

I took me three months before I found my flatware ... buried under all the books and with the label turned around, sigh. The plastic forks got real old. ;-)

The problem was -- and they had packed the container -- that all the furniture was in the front of the container and came out last. Yard junk and boxes came out first. They should have taken the boxes out and stacked them to one side, then brought the furniture in, then it would have been much easier to deal with the boxes. Ackk, it stresses me out just thinking about what a mess it was.

Not sure who I'll use next time, but hopefully people who are willing to think about the job and follow directions. I don't give them altogether thumbs down because the main guy who packed the container up was really good.
