Aloha, everyone!Sorry to bug you with my well issues ,but I really could use your help.Have you seen any wells in your neighborhood or well drilling sites?
Since a well is just a short pipe out of the ground and might be not visible,I would think that no catchment tank might be a sign(though there are variables).
I know only one in HPP.Since I still didn't get any response from the contractor, may be you can help me.
Again, sorry for making a separate thread. The issue is extremely important for me and my whole project is on hold.
Susan,I e-mailed Daniel Bona,but I doubt he will answer.

There is one on 9th Street in HPP. Go down on Makuu, make a left on 9th and the well is on the 4th or 5th lot on the mauka side.

Thank you ,John. So far 2-for sure.I thought with guaranted water from the contractor and the price sometimes the same or twice as much as a good catchment (I mean, close to the ocean) I would think it would be mostly wells.
I know, some people doubt the quality of water, but I,probably, wouldn't drink from the catchment either.
Anyway,as I was told,20 wells are going to be drilled before mine,so I'd appreciate if you keep me posted.
Thank you in advance.

Stillhope,
The wells are more than a simple pipe. Ours is about 8" diameter (I am guessing) and about 24" tall sitting on a small concrete slab. There is a hose bid on top and another fitting with plumbing that goes into the ground which then runs into the building. In the building it is connected to the pressure tank, filter and UV light.
Our well is a very tiny footprint relative to catchment tanks. We painted our well black to blend with the lava. Let me know if you want to come and see it.

Our neighbor on 6th/Makuu HPP has a well.
During the boom in '05 we saw them being drilled at some (4? 5? 6?) houses on Paradise Drive, mauka of 6th.

Thank you,Dr.Weatherford !You really helped.
Susan,I mentioned just the pipe to simplify. And since you replied ,I have a ? for you.On you website you mentioned that the permit took 5.5 months.I was told 3-4.Was there any special circumstance in your case?I am asking because it's important that the well be drilled before the substantial amount of the house will be constructed since the contractor is not going to take responsibility to any damage caused by them ( I was surprised to read this in the contract, but may be it is just a standard procedure).

StillHope,
Not sure why our permit took so long. There was no special circumstances of which I was aware.

Thank you,Susan for the reply and invitation. To far to fly from our city. You should now..
How is the quality of your water?(Not that it will help me,but just curious...)
And the little space a well is taking - is one of the reasons I (still)want a well.On my tiny lot I want to put a lot.Better to have a fish pond than a catchment.

I don't understand why this contractor can't give you the names and phone numbers of a dozen or so references. Unless I misinterpret this I would be very cautious about doing business without adequate references.
Assume the best and ask questions.
