What's Happening on the 4th of July?
#1
Hey everyone,

I'm curious if anyone can tell me what, if anything is happening on the 4th of July? Is there anything going on near HPP, Pahoa or Hilo?

Thanks in advance for any input! [Big Grin]

Call me a party pooper...[Wink]

But July 4th to me is just a stupid excuse to burn money up in the air.

I see so many families wasting money on fireworks when they should be investing in their kids futures.

Between Christmas lights and fourth of July fireworks.... I don't know which is the biggest waste of money.

I'm glad my wife would rather invest in our sons future then blow things up on fireworks or decorative Christmas lights on the outside of the house.[V] Ok... bring it on... call me the grinch. [Big Grin]

Its one of the few aspects of the US of A culture... you know the culture that everyone says America does not have... and there are Millions of people in the world that would like to be a part of that culture.

you know that computer you are using is a waste of money, as the the power it takes to run it... and the price of the connection...

one of the great things about the US of A... each of us gets to decide what is important to us and what is not. Which is one of the things "we" celebrate on the 4 of July.

I would like to start a petiion that we can once again next year bring our tent canopies to Bay Front. The shuttle is fine, the closing of streets is fine but doesnt the county know that it rains every single year sometime during the day or night on the 4th!!! Grrrr! I was thinking they could issue "tent" permits and have a designated area for the canopies.

Carey, I already know there are going to be "public tents for rest area" but honestly I cant see sitting in there visiting with family etc as we always used to do. We pretty much stopped going to Hilo for fireworks since this started. But we are thinking of a hotel, Kona and the fireworks and parade and with all our pals already goign that way! Of Couse SB is doign all he can to avoid going to my parents for the 4th!! ha ha

Sometimes Hilo can be such fun haters!

Parker Ranch 4th of July Rodeo
It’s a great day up in the high country.
Small admission but it’s a fun day.
I have volunteered to take part in “Dressing the Calf”.
No knives, just a company shirt.
3 employees, 1 company shirt, 100’ of rope and one calf.
They let the calf out of the shoot and we have to run it down and get the shirt over its 2 front legs then over the head and down on to the body.
The team with the quickest time gets to choose the charity the prize money goes to.
So, they want to see the NY City boy in the ring.
I’ve grappled much more dangerous opponents then a calf on a hundred foot rope.[B)]

Having grown up on a ranch in Texas, I am sort of "over" the rodeo thing. But to see Scott chasing and dressing a calf, I just might have to take my cowboy boots out of retirement and head up to Waimea.

Cheers,

Kahunascott, ya gotta have someone in your family take a video of it, get it on youtube. No doubt you'll do NYC proud. Good luck!
