If you're ever in Iceland, try some hakarl, rotten shark. It was too foul even for Gordon Ramsay's mouth.
Although it smells strongly of ammonia, the taste isn't that horrific.

Ummmm -- I thought mountain oysters meant testicles of mountain goats -- hence the reference to "mountain"?? Could be wrong. Anyway, I do require my oysters come from the briny deep. A vegan friend of mine won't eat anything with eyes -- Oysters and clams are OK in her book. I somehow never dreamed that to mean she wouldn't eat opihi.
