That's a big maby Nancy. Right now I'll go with Chris Stringer and Tim White ... the concept that we were descended from eucynodonts is bad science since there is no physical evidence to create a link. Beyond that, we're all one, meaning only one species exists and that's Homo Sapiens Sapiens ... some have dark skin and some have light, yet it's clear we came up from Africa, first in the form of Goliath who became Neanderthal and yes, at one point humans were very large i.e., six feet to six feet four and perhaps two-hundred and fifty pounds, we had already used fire to cook and adored our bodies with various ornaments and, at least in my opinion, a non-religious opinion I might add, we were always sentient beings and never animals in that sense, we simply hadn't developed a technological base to support our massive intellectual capability until rather recently. To refer to any group of humans based on the shade of their skin is purely not scientific nor is it supportive of efforts to see mankind as one species which is a cause of separation and the creation of various enclaves unto themselves by the perpetuation of that myth. Darker and lighter skin tones are simply adaptive techniques the organism uses to ward of, for the most part, climatic stress.

Sure...of course I agree...skin color is so didely squat....and we are one big human family roaming around this round rock thing, hurling through space...religion, cultures, classes will probably have very little meaning in the future...everyone will be busy surviving.......although, I think that is a better future anyway....until the earth gives out.........and then hopefully we will be off to other more habitable planets....I guess I am an optimist.

No Ms. B. we're not 'monkeys' and never have been and that's why I used the word 'sentient' in my above post. Perhaps you missed it or were simply unfamiliar with the definition? You mentioned you were with child as I recall. That child within you is the product of millions of years of genetic engineering and I trust you've noted that I refrained from using the word 'evolution' which of course is a word which conveys or conflates the concept that there is some sort of 'randomness' associated with our DNA which there is not. We are a contrived species of 'sentient' bipeds who, through the misfortunes of warfare, extending back to times shrouded in destruction, both self-induced and astro-physical, have lost touch with our origins which, I for one believe are timeless... an I'm sorry you're having a hard time and hope things improve ... I'm simply very precise about anything to do with this phoney thing called 'race.' We're all one and spring from the same source... and what that source is, is the real mystery.

on another note and from my experience as a landlord: i will NOT rent/lease to anyone who is not physically on island. ya jus' never know what you're gonna get and visa versa. you know, most landlords do background and credit checks. i wonder if the prospective tenant should do the same?

A truly horrible story , but not surprising. Take it as a lesson learned and move on.

There are an extreme number of rentals available. Checkout todays Tribune Herald ( Saturday ) or perhaps Day Lum rentals. You should get a very nice rental for your price with the current housing crunch.
