2000 plus and question marks....
#1
I'm a bit disappointed that Chuysmom decided to start a new nickname.

Many of us know who she is and enjoyed her posts.

Recently she commented about she didn't like the numbers game.

Now, I have noticed that Carey has cut back on posting and only editing some of her old threads.

A quick message to Carey... If your cutting back to avoid ??'s then Punaweb has really lost a great commodity.

Chuysmom... I hope you don't think people think bad of you for posting so much.

Will others resort to holding back on punaweb or changing there names to prevent the ??'s[?]

Would people prefer if I went underground and just started posting anonymously?

I know there are people that are sick of my posts, but I feel that people being reluctant to post because they have reached a certain number of posts is a bit lame...(no personal attack to those reaching the number or to us who have passed the number)

Is there a Booby Prize somewhere that you all aren't telling me about[:o)][?]

Okay Damon, it's late and I'm tired and the truth is you overwhelm me. There I said it - there's an elephant in the room. I wish you would just be quiet sometimes - don't mean to hurt your feelings but it's like when I used to drink too much and wanted to barf. I remember once I stood too close to speakers at a Black Sabbath concert and got sound poisoning...I barfed for two days. Sometimes you are just overkill for me - like Groundhog Day the movie.

I'm sure you are a nice guy but dang, dude...chill. (Don't you dare erase this one Robman - he addressed me directly...I did not ask for it.)

I don't wanna be compared to or thought of as a spammer-poster-person with award-winning numbers of posts who's all puffed up about it ([:I])... just like to talk to my friends sometimes and learn great stuff here. Were it not for Punaweb, we would not be living here now.

I don't care if you stay or go and I actually enjoy some of your posts - just please don't focus your constantly roving eyeball on me. Thanks.

No feelings felt Carrie![:X]

I appreciate honest comments more then people just poking fun at my posting style.

I'm sorry if I overwhelm you.

I really try my best to keep everything relevant.

Honest... I'm not potagee. [Wink]

The only hurtful thing that you might have said, if I didn't have thick skin... is that you think my comments might be "spammer-poster-person" worthy[xx(] but I truly don't care if people think I'm that type of person, as those that know me... know I just like to talk a lot and bring up discussions on different things.

On other message boards, there are features that allow users to "ignore" people so that you don't have to feel overwhelmed/threatened/bothered/etc. by the way a person posts. When I first joined Punaweb, I asked if that feature was available.

I hope we get to go have a cup of coffee sometime together.

Many people have expressed the same concerns as you have.... so don't feel like your the only one that feels that way.

w/ aloha,

damon

Probably the best thing to do is to avoid messages that are directed at one person, such as why don't you post more, or you misunderstood me, stupid, or explain yourself. They are uninteresting to others, and always off topic (Hawaii, Puna).

If someone wants to fade away or adopt a new pseudonym there may be very good reasons for it. Some may not want employers to see what they have written. Some may not want others to see what they have written. Some may just want to put some limits on their online obsession. Whatever the reason, they should just be allowed to go their way. And no one should be stalked or challenged here. If we don't self-police, you will end up with a forum where all we can talk about are manta rays and good deals on airline tickets.

Restrain yourself, lest we be restrained. No comments should be directed at another person.

And no stalking, you know, unless it's that positive kind of stalking that says please let me sleep on your lanai.

Interesting reply as stalking is exactly what I was thinking last night as well, but you worded it so much better...

That's an interesting concept although I'm totally lost? Why would someone want to sleep on someone else's lanai? And why would that be a good thing? If it were my lanai they'd end up with a chicken sleeping on their head. Probably amusing for the chicken, although I doubt it would encourage restful sleep.

It might be a really nice lanai with cooling breezes in proximity to a pleasant body mass that is slowly emitting the heat of the tropical day. Every single guy on earth knows that once you make it to the lanai, then you have a chance of making it into the master suite as well. But you just start out asking for the lanai. This is why pseudonyms are a good idea.

Very interesting perspective.

1. I've always believed that you should stand by what you write. If your worried that your employer may see what you have written, then you might want to re-evaluate what your saying. (You don't cross a street without looking both ways you know[Wink])

2. Then why would they write it in the first place? [Wink]

3. That seems strange that they would then adopt a second name. That seems even more obsessive and compulsive, as now they would have the ability to post what they want anytime. [Wink]

4. Agreed, I only asked Carrie and Carey because they have publicly come out and said that they didn't like the 2000 number.

5. Agreed, I haven't really seen stalking. People post to things that they want to talk about. Others post to other people directly because they might have some sort of connection to that person, whether it be online or off. Challenged... well that is kind of a weird word for things. A message board is a place to learn, and often a good learning process is through debate.[Wink]

6. Agreed, that may be why I sound like such an ass at times. I would hate to see anyone in PUNA get taken by someone.... on Punaweb or in person.

7. Glen, your posts are some of the greatest ones, I hope you don't feel the need to change your name when you hit 2000 [Smile]

Here's the anecdote on the topic :

The guy knocks on the door of a small village house. When the lady comes out he says:

"Can I get some water because I am so hungry that I want to sleep here!"
