I'm just not happy looking at a bunch of bricks holding up the grill [V] and its not easy to adjust the height while cooking, without getting burned...lol

Does anyone have any idea's how I can get something made of Stainless Steel? Like a good wielder/fabricator?

Maybe like the new BBQ's at Pohoiki Beach Park??

Im gonna drive down there real quick, and get a picture for reference.

Isemoto Construction did the park improvements.
Call them and ask for the project manager and tell them you would like to know who you bought them from?

Beau hope you can share photos of the Pohoiki ones you like! Actually the photos you shared are a nice beginning and I understand your wish to replace the red! Good luck, and say hey great tip from KScott there.

What about attaching lengths of SS angle along the side for the grate to slide on? The angle is (usually) available at Hilo Sheet metal ooopppps Hilo Steel Works 240 Maka'ala... (kitty corner from the Ford dealer) 935-9289 (were there today & they have a bunch of sizes of SS angle rail...) & they can cut it to length, then just bolt it on to the pit - each pair of angle rail lengths would be one height... less welding than the Pohoiki pits, & a few more bolts... but no welding - fabrication needed.... unless you also want the grills, & they look to be SS angle rail frames with SS expanded mesh spotted on.... (not positive on that...) again, materials at Hilo Sheet & next door is a fabricator that can probably do it

added: Looks like that the Pohoiki pits have a stationary cook surface & moveable fire.... Hard to vary temp while cooking.... think I would want to have the ability to move the cook surface close to or away from the heat... like an oven...

You're keeping your beer too close to the open BBQ pit. It will get warm very quickly positioned that way.

Oh and oink, Your right about the beer being to close to the Pit....
I must learn to cook one handed and not to set the beer down. [Wink]

make sure the welder knows to use stainless steel weld rod instead of the regular carbon steel rod... if you use the wrong rod for this application (elevated temps), your weld is just going to crack and your grill will fall apart
