Our Councilwoman in the news - again
#21
Jimmy Boy....You continue to amaze me with your inuendos and inferences....I wrote to you answering your questions about my involvement during the CDP process and hoped that it would give you a peek of what I've done in the past couple of years....Remember this?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aloha James,
No I was not on any the working groups of the PCDP, however, I have read the final draft several times and support the Puna CDP knowing the fine effort and hardwork that the people of Puna put into it. I was not in the working groups because I was busy with the Kanaka Council Moku O Keawe trying to preserve our resources on this island with the following issues:

1.Putting a stop to Kyle Dong's attempt to harvest 12,000 acres of koa forest above Hilo...were you aware of that issue? If you were, I didn't see you or our Puna councilwoman at the meetings. We entered objections during the DEIS phase and Dong and his co-horts could not come up with the answers and therefore withdrew their application from DLNR. Where were you and your councilwoman?

2.Putting a stop to the illegal buoys that West Hawaii Fisheries Council placed in ko'a grounds(ancient fishing grounds) from Kona to Ka'u so dive and tour boat operators could chase the almighty tourist dollar while destroying these fishing areas and preventing Hawaiians from gathering as protected under Article XII Section 7 of the State of Hawaii Constitution. We met with the head of Army Corp of Engineers at Fort Shafter in Honolulu and met with Mazie Hirono's Office to lodge a complaint. The illegal buoys have been removed and the Army Corp of Engineers has now implemented a policy to seek advice from the Hawaiian community when there is a question of infringement of gathering rights and impacts on the native people. James...where were you and your councilwoman? I didn't see you at any of these meetings.

3.Standing up against the Stryker Brigade when they held their meeting at Waiakea Intermediate School. Uncle Sam Kaleleiki, Jim Albertini and many others were there. Where were you and your councilwoman?

4.Serving on the Bioethics Council and standing up against GMO, Monsanto and the University of Hawaii in their conspiracy to deceive the public with their scientists and RCUH's Kawika Lovell. Where were you and your councilwoman?

5.Protecting our religious freedom at Ahu'ena Heiau when the new owners of the King Kamehameha Hotel declared that they owned Ahu'ena Heiau. We held a statewide vigil with many dignitaries, organizations, hula halau, churches and many others paying their respects and in support of our religious freedom to worship in our church "Ahu'ena Heiau" and recognizing that it belongs to the Hawaiian people. Where were you, James, PhD and your councilwoman?

6.Filing a contested case hearing against Kona Blue Ocean Fish Farms to prevent the expansion on ceded lands illegally. In addition, the pollution levels of this fish farm is horrendous and continues to have a negative impact along Keahole. Other Corporate Fish Farmers have been eyeing Hawaii to move their operations to Hawaii because of the pristine conditions and the readily available transportation to ship all over the world making money while polluting the oceans around the island. Kona Blue withdrew their application for expansion....we won! Where were you and your councilwoman?

7.Testified against the Superstores before the Planning Commission and County Council because of the negative impact it would have on our island community. Your Councilwoman voted to kill the ban on Superstores.

8.Testified against the development of Punalu'u to protect the aina and the nesting grounds of the Green Sea Turtle driving to Kona, Ka'u and Hilo. Working closely with Auntie Pele Hanoa and many others in Ka'u to prevail.

9.Testified before the joint State Senate Committee in opposition to the OHA Settlement with the State on ceded lands on behalf of the Kanaka Council and the Hawaiian silent majority. We prevailed on the vote.

This is just a sampling some of the things that myself and members of the Kanaka Council have done in the last 2 years and doing all of this because we "Aloha and Malama Aina" and did this all at our own expense.

Your inference that I was doing nothing during the PCDP process is far from the truth. Members of the Kanaka Council monitored the progress and provided updates.

Just this past weekend myself and members of the Kanaka Council flew to Kauai to take on a developer who is building a huge spec home on a burial site with over 40 identified sets of iwi. We brought the spotlight to Naue so everyone throughout Hawaii would see the continued desecration of our na kupuna iwi.....Jimmy put a muzzle on it....I don't see you standing up for our kupuna iwi.

Mahalo to Mitzi, Jeff and Woody for coming to my defense....I think its time you (Jimmy) put it to rest and lets deal with the bigger picture of taking care of Puna and its people.....

P.S......Jimmy boy.....Maybe you can put your PhD to good use in the community by joining our Opala Patrol....picking up litter....instead of talking trash.....You are always welcome.

Aloha James,

The details as presented speak for Kale Gumapac. How many people in Hawai'i government can present themselves in the same way for preserving and protecting the land, culture and traditions for the Aina, Kanaka Maoli and residents of these Islands? The details have spoken. Mahalo! [8D]

Wow!
Thin skin grows in the waning days of the primary Smile

Kale, you have done some good things.
I accept that.
Nothing to compare to some people in the Mayor's race and no more than some in several Council races.

However, my concern is for what you have demonstrated above -- lack of a cool head and calm when there is pressure.

Really don't think there are any "inuendos and inferences" -- other than, even though you are a smart and passionate member of the community, I still don't think you are the best candidate for District 5.

If you want to know what I do and have done to make a difference, come visit me some time. I do not need you or anyone else to tell me what to do.

James,
There is always a time and place for everything. You really don't know me nor do I know you. Yet, your writings continue assume that you know me well...You don't know me nor do you know what I am about. If what you write were true....there would be no other word from me. I think it is time you learned more about me.

I invite you to our Kanaka Council meeting tonight at Queen Liliuokalani Children's Center at 6 pm in Hilo on Ululani St....There you will see me in action. Please come...you will be welcome.

"Kanaka Council meeting tonight"

Thanks, it's a fair call on your part.
I seldom go to Hilo at night (and not often in the daytime), so no promises there.

Kale, my challenges to you are political and nothing personal. As it happens, note that I have also put a couple of political challenges to other candidates for Council District 5.

No free passes for anyone.

Who ever is elected to District 5 Council seat is going to have to deal with matters that make my political challenges to you look like the shadow of a small fly.

Did I miss something? I fail to see "trash talk" in the postings by James Weatherford, just some honest opinion and reasonable questions. I disagree with James on voting for Ms. Naeole on the basis of her incinerator vote, but that is his prerogative and he presented his perspective in a way that I found civil and even helpful. I value civility, and I am beginning to find it lacking in Candidate Gumapac.

Cheers,
Jerry
